Radiant Rugs!
Funded Apr 1, 2023The students absolutely love having their new radiant rugs in the classroom! It brings them so much joy to be able to comfortably sprawl out on a rug and play with toys or manipulatives during centers. Our classroom looks so much brighter and happier with these colorful rugs and the students enjoy pointing out the different pictures, letters, numbers, and images printed on top of each floor piece.
The students and I are very grateful for your generosity and thank you for all that you do to make our classroom a warm and friendly learning environment.”

Continuing Our Learning at Home
Funded May 29, 2020After a very long process, my students finally have the materials they need to engage in hands-on learning online! Our school received a grant for supplementary materials for home use, so after these items came in, we combined them with the items from this project and prepared them for distribution with families. Preparing the supply bags took a team of two teachers an entire day to fill one-by-one, but it was well worth it as the supply bags were overflowing with materials and the kindergarteners were absolutely ecstatic once they saw everything that was inside.
We've been introducing new materials little by little each day, and it feels like a birthday party every time the students get to open something new. Despite being in 100% virtual instruction, having hands-on materials like these makes it feel like "real school" and brings a smile to the children's faces.
The whiteboards and markers from this project are one thing that we've been using daily in remote instruction, and the kids take great pride in writing neatly and carefully erasing their board. Thank you for helping provide these valuable learning tools for my students. It's making a world of a difference!”

Funded Jan 24, 2020What a wonderful surprise! I was just thinking last night about how I could possibly scrounge for funds to make this project come alive and I was absolutely floored when I checked my email this morning and saw that it was fully funded.
Your generosity is providing a learning experience that the students will cherish for a lifetime. You're helping inspire a generation of future explorers and naturalists to build an appreciation for plants, animals, and the great outdoors.
I cannot wait to share this news with the students. We're very appreciative of the love you've sent us!”

Funded Mar 25, 2019Thank you so much for the BreakoutEDU kits! The students were so excited when they heard that they would be learning how to solve puzzles and open locks. You cannot imagine how loud they gasped when they saw the invisible ink light up under a black light for the first time. They've been acting like little detectives walking around everywhere with magnifying glasses and have improved significantly in their team-based problem solving strategies.
So far we've used the kits for math, reading, and science based breakout activities. It's super fun to listen to the students as they use the knowledge they've gained throughout the course of a unit to solve the puzzles together. Some of the students have even come up with their own mini-puzzles and have asked if they can help program a lock on their own and hide treasure inside a box. Their creativity is expanding in new dimensions.
The students hope to continue creating their own puzzles for other classes and even the teachers and staff to solve. Thank you for sharing the gift of problem solving with my students.”

Funded Apr 27, 2019Thank you so much for the construction materials. The students love building structures and their spatial awareness skills have developed immensely. Students will draw up blueprints for new construction ideas in their free time and love working together to problem solve and swoop in to provide physical support for each other when structures begin to droop or sag.
One of their favorite construction task this year was trying to build Rapunzel's tower. Everyone wanted to have the tallest structure and at first the students were only limited by how high they could reach. Students eventually figured out that they could build a tall structure on the ground and eventually raise it up and attach it to a foundation. It's wonderful to watch how they cheer each other on and problem solve.
The students love the construction tools so much, that they'd rather play with these than go out to recess or use technology. I am so thankful for the countless hours of enjoyment these tools have provided in our classroom. You have inspired these future engineers to aspire to build whatever they dream.”

Kindergarten Code-a-pillars!
Funded Jan 15, 2019The students were absolutely ecstatic when Code-a-pillars arrived. It was the end of a long rainy day and the students were almost in tears when they heard it was dismissal because they couldn't wait to see them being unboxed from their package. Once the we took the Code-a-pillars out the following day, the students were entranced. I have never seem them treat anything with so much care. The students really believed that they were living creatures that needed love and attention and held the Code-a-pillars like newborn babies.
You cannot imagine how engaged the students are when it is time to work with the Code-a-pillars. We set up problems on the rug and the students work together in teams to figure out how to get their Code-a-pillar to the right destination and perform the correct task. We started with simple directional problems, and have since then progressed to multi-step tasks with repeating functions. Students from other classes have asked if they can join our class because they've heard so many exciting things about the Code-a-pillars.
We hope to soon expand our use of the Code-a-pillars to other subjects as well. We have plans to incorporate Code-a-pillar sequencing to our "how to" writing projects and "step-by-step" directions for math. The dance teachers even have ideas on how we can code Code-a-pillar's movements using the same terminology we've been studying in the Language of Dance. Thank you so much for enhancing our students' learning through your gift of these wonderful engaging tools!”

Basic Writing Supplies
Funded Mar 27, 2018Thank you so much for the writing materials for my class. It feels so amazing to always have writing paper a box of pencils on hand! Some of my students didn't have any pencils at home at the beginning of the year, and consequently the original classroom set we purchased understandably disappeared so students could completely their homework at home. We now have enough pencils to hopefully last a couple of years even if some slowly walk away from our classroom. We really appreciate the construction paper as well. I have always had a tendency to shy away from art inspired writing projects as supplies were limited, but now my students are free to illustrate their stories with construction paper and create paper sets for their video projects and more. Finally, thank you so much for the dry erase markers! Students use them daily in class to draft their thoughts on whiteboards and parents have had fun using them with their children together during family game literacy nights. These supplies have made a difference in more ways than you can imagine.”

Funded Mar 27, 2018Thank you so much for giving my students access to BrainPOP and BrainPOP Jr! My students are self-driven learners and have been able to explore age-appropriate content that provides them with inspiration for collaborative projects and individual study. The children tremendously enjoy the audio-visual aids that BrainPOP provides. In their free time, students will frequently ask to use audio splitters so they can share the excitement about what they've been learning with a friend. What's even more exciting is watching how the students find ways to tie their learning into their passions. My students have choreographed and performed dances about seed-dispersal, created stop motion movies about the American Civil Rights Movement, and brought in their own materials to conduct their own Science investigations. These weren't assignments that I gave them in class; these were activities they asked to be allowed to conduct on their own. I appreciate the support you provided in helping fuel my students' drive to learn, explore, and create.”

Funded Jan 26, 2012Thank you so much for your generous donations to our classroom project! The netbook computers have made a huge difference in our classroom. Students were finally able to access Lexia on a daily basis and their decoding skills test results soon started to soar shortly after. This year over 95% of the class scored proficient or advanced on their classroom benchmarks thanks to your support.
The students have found many other uses for the netbooks beyond Lexia. We also use the built in webcams to record stories and tutorials to help parents help their children from home. We've recorded classroom performances and modified the video files together, and made digital flash cards for students to practice in their free time. We are so grateful for the gifts you have given us. Next year's first graders can't wait to use the technology as well!”

Funded Dec 7, 2011Thank you so much for your generous gift to our classroom! These chairs have made a HUGE difference in classroom management. Students are miraculously no longer caught fighting over a chair or falling out of their seat. Everyone has a nice non-broken, appropriately-sized seat during group time and we don't have to drag tiny chairs over from student desks. We've noticed a positive improvement with student posture as well. These chairs encourage students to sit up straight rather than rest their head against the kidney tables. Visitors to our classroom often point out how bright and cheery the red chairs make the classroom look.
We have found the chairs to be very durable and use them for many other purposes than just group time. They make an excellent stepping stool to reach high objects, are the perfect size and weight to play musical chairs with, and line up perfectly when we play choo-choo train.
We are confident that these chairs will last many, many, many years to come, and promise to keep them clean and in tip-top condition. Thanks again for your help! ”
