Musicality and creativity can be easily achieved through the use of instruments in the music classroom. Playing instruments gives students the ability to explore different timbres, parts of the world, and instrument techniques. My classroom is lacking in instruments so my students do not get a chance to experience much unpitched percussion in music class. With a more diverse set of instruments, my students will be able to create soundscapes to literature as well as compose pieces of music that fit the sounds they hear in their heads. Musical instruments allow students to explore different cultures. My students will be able to travel to different parts of the world while being in music class if they have access to world instruments. I am requesting some world instruments because it is important for students to experience various cultures. Music is an easy way to do this.
