Our class focuses on persisting when the going gets rough, communicating and collaborating instead of taking over, and using natural curiosity to develop questions and hypotheses. These are skills that many children develop by playing with their peers, but that gifted kids sometimes lack because they easily solve the puzzle on their own, without ever seeing a challenge or valuing other perspectives. These resources are to ignite curiosity and provide that challenge, to help them appreciate different ideas, and to develop strategies for perseverance when their first attempts don't lead to the results they want. We value the creative process: envisioning to drafting to playing to perfecting.
