  • All About Kindergarten

    Funded Oct 8, 2024

Words can not describe how grateful we are for receiving these items.

We are so thrilled with the materials that we have received and we are already putting them in use. We started to paint when we have free time, and the kids loved it.

We also were able to use the table and chairs to work in a small group during center time.

The big book display is a BIG HIT! The children love using dry erase markers to write and draw things.

Once again, we thank you for your generosity!!! Without your support we would have have all these things in our classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Hatzipavlou

  • Keeping Safe in Second Grade

    Funded Sep 23, 2021

My class would like to thank you for you kind donation. We are trying to keep safe by wearing our masks, washing our hands, and trying to social distance as much as we can. With the added protection of these sneeze guards, we will feel more at ease during this unprecedented time. Who would have ever thought that our lives would change with this pandemic.

My students were so excited to hear that you donated to our project. They would see sneeze guards in doctor's offices, supermarkets, and other places, and thought how "cool" it would be to have sneeze guards in our classroom for an extra layer of protection.

Once again, we thank you for your generous donation and making a huge impact in our classroom. Without your support, this would have never happened! We really appreciate your generosity!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Hatzipavlou

  • Glitchy Issues Teaching Remotely

    Funded Sep 3, 2020

I am really lost for words. Since March, I have been working from home with my second graders with this pandemic that has affected the entire world.

My computer that I have been using is outdated and would always freeze. Sometimes, I had a difficult time with the microphone as well as seeing children during a Google Meet.

I don't know what the school year will look like this year. I am thankful for your donation that funded my project! With a year full of unknown, I at least will be able to connect with my class.

Thank you for all that you have done to make this an easier transition for me and my children!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Hatzipavlou

  • The Power of Tablets in the Classroom

    Funded Dec 10, 2019

I was so excited to see through Donors Choose that my project was fully funded for tablets!

The minute I received the tablets, I quickly opened up the package and with the help of the technology teacher, we quickly got them running so the children can use.

    I downloaded many learning games.

My ELL students and children who need more practice were able to get on without assistance to practice sight words, phonics, and math skills.

We were also able to use them to research attractions in the five boroughs. They were able to navigated these tablets to find facts on the attractions that they were looking to research.

WE ARE BEYOND GRATEFUL!!!!!!!! What a difference it makes for these children to have the "Power of Tablets" on their fingers tips!!!!

I can not wait to get more with another project that I posted!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Hatzipavlou

  • Second Graders Being Organized

    Funded Aug 30, 2019

My class and I would like to thank you for donating to fund our projects. My class was so happy to hear that they would have bins to store their books and their tiles to build words with.

In the past, we put books in a big zip lock bag which also tore and always had to had to replace. Our tiles that we use for our phonics program were also stored in sip lock bags. The children would loose their tiles and then have missing pieces which made it so difficult to use We finally have these beautiful bins to store the children's books and tiles to build words.

Also, our class received a beautiful shelf that we store some of our flexible seating in. We are so happy to have this too.

Once again, people like you make a huge impact in a child's classroom, and we want to take the time to thank you for everything!

  • Sitting in Comfort

    Funded Aug 30, 2019

My students now with having seating area and sit in comfort during reading, writing, and math workshop.

My class and I were so pleased to hear that we will finally "sit in comfort." With the help of you, we now have a fl x-space classroom storage bench. It's so much fun now to grab a book and sit with friends to discuss books. We store our books and learning game in the compartments on the bench. We love it!

We also received a flex space comfy stool to add to our flex-space love get and learn couch in the classroom. This space is so inviting and allows children to sit and discuss books.

The classroom looks so inviting now. Children love sitting now and also feel more comfortable with their peers as they discuss books, work on writing, and work on math.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Hatzipavlou

  • Second Graders, Have a Seat!

    Funded Jan 9, 2019

First, we would like to thank you for donating to my project on Donor's Choose.

I received the stools so fast. I didn't expect to get them that quick. I stayed one day after school and got the stools ready for my children around the kidney table so they can see the next day. When the children came to school the next morning, they saw the stools and couldn't believe it. They were so excited and happy to know that people actually donate money to schools.

We used the stools RIGHT away! I rotated the children so ALL the children had to opportunity to sit on the stools. You really made an impact on these kids by donating to my project and we are thankful for what you did!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Hatzipavlou

  • Working Together

    Funded Dec 3, 2018

I first want to thank those who donated to the project that I posted on Donor's Choose.

My class will be using the kidney table A LOT! We will use it during guided reading and math groups. Sitting around the kidney table with help the students have meaningful conversations. We will also use the kidney table when we are working in groups to playing our learning games.

When my children saw the big box in the classroom they knew it was a kidney table. One I put it together with the help of people in the building, the children were so excited. When I told them that this project was funded they would ask me everyday, "When is the kidney table coming?"

THANK YOU VERY MUCH! You made a huge difference to the children in my class.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Hatzipavlou

  • For the Children

    Funded May 4, 2016

No words can describe how I appreciate this CD player along with books and CDs that go along with the books. It's a brand new school year and when I explained to my children how we got a CD player and CDs with books for free because people donate their money to classroom everywhere, they were ecstatic!!!!

My children in my classroom can not wait to use these items. I just introduced the items to the children and showed them how to open the CD player, put the CD inside the player... And they can't wait to be part of the "listening center."

We thank all the wonderful people who contribute to children everywhere in order for these children to be able to have all these wonderful items I n their classroom. You all make a BIG difference in children's education!! I appreciate your kindness and support!!!”

I have 25 students this year in my class. That number can change. Everyday new students arrive to the building and enter a classroom. Students come from all sorts of backgrounds. We have children in all grades whose language is not English. The school that I work in houses children from Pre K through grade 5. There are about 700 students in the building. Students in the school where I work serves a multi-ethnic group of children who speak 78 languages at home. Student population is very diverse.
