Young Chefs
Funded Feb 28, 2022Thank you for providing my students with the tools they need to begin their cooking journey! We are excited to now be placed in the classroom with the multiple kitchens! Yes, more than one! It has been rewarding to watch our students prepare their own daily meals of breakfast and lunch as well as complete meals together. Our goal is for our students to be able to prepare meals for themselves and their families to support independent living. Cooking has allowed our students a vast of experiences including social skills with their peers, math for life, reading comprehension, and executive functioning practice. Thank you for helping us be able to cook together!”

Getting the Fidgets Out of Back to School Nerves
Funded Aug 6, 2019Thank you for your generosity in donating to my classroom and more importantly helping reach my students needs. My classroom is now filled with more options for seating and sensory integration. The rubber seats and bands have allowed my students to get their jitters out while being able to focus on their work. I am looking forward to using the massage turtle for muscle relaxation techniques for my students with muscular tension. Myself and paras have already dived into the velcro and command strips to set up our classroom and materials for our students!
With your alls help coming back to school was exciting and fun for our students who received packages on the first couple days! We have had a lot of fun opening our surprises and finding their places in our classroom which will allow easy access to grab when needed.
Our next steps are to continue growing as individuals and as a team in our classroom. We are looking to find ways which will bring our students success in their current lives and beyond our classroom walls.”

Funded Dec 17, 2018Thank you for donating to our furry and shelly classmates! Having the bunny and turtle in our classroom allows students sensory needs to be met while having fun. The students are responsible for taking care of the animals needs of daily feedings and weekly cage cleanings. This allows the students to practice different skills to help them become successful in their community and future lives. On behalf of my classroom team and students, we thank you all for providing for our animal friends! Love Boots the bunny and Shelly the turtle :)”

Funded Nov 4, 2018Thank you for contributing to my classroom project to receive Life Science Curriculum that is accessible for my students! Teaching students with Moderate to Severe Disabilities comes with many challenges, one of them is giving them access to curriculum. The Attainment Company has one of the best curriculum guides for special education and I am excited to teach it in my classroom. The paired readings with hands own experiments will allow my students to grasp the content and relate to their everyday lives. On a side note, it will also help me save time and money, so THANK YOU!!”

Turning Disabilities to Abilities by Reaching Sensory Needs
Funded Aug 10, 2018My heart was so full with gratitude and love when receiving all donations and having the project completed so quickly. My paraprofessionals and myself are grateful for all of the support we have received for our amazing students. The materials shipped just in time for the beginning of the school year! My sensory room was able to be set-up with the wonderful new additions as the students walked into the classroom on day one!
The bean bag chair has been in use everyday for students to relax in between classes. We are also beginning to use it for a student to increase his muscle tone by not laying on a flat service. The noise canceling headphones were a game changer during the beginning of the year fire drills! The various sensory toys- water beads, fidget toys, Mani tiles, fiber optic waterfall- have increased student focus as well as gave calming effect and fine motor skills benefits.
I am blessed everyday to teach my students. Since I have had the opportunity to teach students with moderate to severe disabilities, I feel they have taught me more about happiness, simplicity, and love than I ever could teach them. They are amazing young adults who deserve many opportunities in life. Having more of their sensory needs met has given them a great start to the new school year!”
