  • After School, Scholars Play Tennis!

    We are extremely thankful for your generosity. The students that are involved in the Tennis Club think it is truly amazing that strangers care so much about them to actually donate money so they can learn and be a part of an after school club. The teachers that have students involved have told me they have seen a positive change in their behavior. Parents are extremely delighted to have their children apart of something different and look forward to this club every week.

  • Helping Students Improve Push-Up and Sit-Up Technique

    Funded May 24, 2014

    We have finally received our Push Up Training Mat's and the students were all extremely eager to use them right away. You no longer hear "Ooh Man!" when its time for push ups. Students are all enthusiastic about doing push ups and most importantly doing them the correct way.

    This project has helped the students focus on the proper technique as well as eliminating injury. The overall goal will be for the students to not need the training mat's as they will be do accustomed to doing them the correct way.

    This classroom project was brought to life by 100 Women in Hedge Funds and 20 other donors.
My students vary from ages 3-11 as I teach PK-4th grade. Our families qualify for 90%+ free and reduced lunch. We are located in Newark, NJ and like many school districts across the state, we have been impacted with severe budget cuts. Many times PE supplies are no longer considered when the school creates their budget for the upcoming year. Our goal as a city, state, and country is to promote continuous physical activity to our children. My goal is to teach them the correct skills and techniques so that they will be able to continue to live a healthy and active lifestyle.

About my class
