Comfortable Seating
Funded Oct 14, 2023After your very generous and kind donations to our classroom, we can now share we have a brand new rug!
This rug has made a huge improvement in our student's attention span, it has made our classroom a lot more inviting and beautiful. Our new rug gives students a comfortable and cleaner space to sit on and enjoy our daily lessons. Our space looks a lot more vibrant with beautiful, bright colors.

Funded Dec 29, 2022Having a color printer in my classroom has changed everything! Before getting a color printer I had to print pictures or signs to enhance my classroom and lessons in another room. This meant I had to wait until my preparation period or my lunch to print what I needed, walk over to pick it up and pray they had paper or that the printer hadn't ran out of ink. With my new printer, I don't have to wait for anyone. I can print and have what I need in seconds and I have made my classroom a more inviting, colorful and print rich environment for my students. I can print colorful pictures, graphic organizers to help my students with their writing process and weekly homework packets.

Furniture Needed!
Funded Dec 21, 2018I feel extremely lucky to be part of a community who cares and thinks education is important. Your generosity has shown me and my students that being comfortable and safe is as important as any subject in school.
Opening a new program at PS9 has been challenging. There aren't that many resources and creating an environment where children are comfortable was very difficult. At the beginning of the year, students were seating on the cold, dirty floor. Now that they have a new rug, they can sit comfortably and are able to focus more on the lesson rather than the discomfort. Having a new beautiful rug has also helped me with my classroom management. Students get to sit on a specific spot and I can quickly call them, making transitions a lot smoother.
My students were extremely excited when they first saw this rug. The shelving has also provided extra storage and an opportunity to expand our Spanish library.

We Need Speakers!
Funded May 31, 2018I have been so extremely lucky this school year! I have new technology that has made an incredible difference in my teaching. Having a computer (Alexa) that answers questions and helps my students learn even more, has changed my outlook on how a classroom should look like. My students are now more independent and know how to interact with things they see in the real world. We just needed a bit more. Alexa was constantly used in the classroom by my students. However, since our class was large, it was difficult to hear. I thought the new Alexa would have been a waste of a resource. With the new speaker, that is no longer the case. I am able to use Alexa all the time and my students are able to hear it better. It really made a difference!
Our leveled books will be used in our classroom by all students. Some of our leveled books have seen better days. It was important for me to make sure students have what they need to improve their reading. The new books will definitely be a great addition to our library.

Tablets for Learning
Funded Nov 14, 2017Having the amazon tablets in our classroom has been a blessing. We have been using them for reading, mathematics, science and social studies. Students are able to use the tablets to practice their reading skills through reading a to z. They also use them to practice their math skills for both addition and subtraction. I have also been using them to show them educational videos with both science and social studies content.
This product ensures that my students continue to be engaged through my lessons and gives them freedom to decide how they want to learn that day. It has become an exceptional tool for our studies.
Most of my students in the classroom have some kind of tablet or smart technology in their homes. It was important to me to make my students feel like they were learning in an updated educational setting. I also wanted to make sure every student had access to this type of technology and be able to manipulate it to their interests.
I love how excited my students get when they are about to use these tablets. I can not thank you enough for your incredible contribution.”

Flexible Seating
Funded Sep 14, 2017I am so grateful for your amazing donation to our classroom. It has changed our learning lives!
Our classroom now has different options for seating and students love our wobble chairs. They are getting to know themselves by picking seats that helps them learn. They are not just for fun and to play around. These seats really have provided new opportunities for students to do the best work they can in the classroom.
These seats have also provided more space in our classroom. They are light and easy to carry from one place to another. They are sturdy and have definitely serve their purpose.

The 21st Century Classroom
Funded Sep 14, 2017I am so happy to share our experience with our new seating arrangements. This has been a life changing experience for both my students and myself. Flexible seating has been working amazingly in our classroom. Students are really excited all the time and want to try all the possible seating options. These seats lets them feel they can make decisions about what they like and don't like in order to feel comfortable while working. At the same time, they are learning about themselves and their way of learning by making decisions based on their preferences. It is amazing to see them get into the routines and know they are going to feel great about their day!
So far, we will continue to use our new resources to work independently and in small groups. Our cushions, kneeling pads and lap desks have provided amazing possibilities. Our classroom looks and feels so much spacious because we no longer have huge desks on our way.

BrainPOP for Bilingual Learners
Funded Dec 20, 2016Having BrainPop Jr. in my classroom has made my lessons more interesting and a lot more fun for my students. They always look forward to watching the videos and playing the games the website provides. They even want to take the quizzes right after the movies! Students are a lot more engaged when watching the educational videos from this amazing website. I am able to look at my curriculum and make connections with the videos from BrainPop Jr. Their videos are at grade level and fun to watch. These videos are the best tool a teacher could ever have.

Bilingual First Graders Need Spanish Books
Funded Dec 5, 2016As a Dual Language teacher, I find it very difficult to find appropriate books for my students to read. It was a big surprise when I saw the books donated to my classroom. My students will be able to read books that will help them do research and learn about a variety of topics. This would not have been possible without your generosity.
My students were so excited to receive these books! The books are so vibrant with exciting pictures and important information. My students cannot wait to use these books for their research.

Faboulous Mathematicians Need Materials
Funded Sep 26, 2016My students had a hard time understanding geometry and playing with shapes because our school lacked the money to buy three-dimensional shapes. This manipulative is really important for our students since they will be able to observe them and describe them through play.
My students were really excited when they first saw the shapes. They are so colorful and sturdy, my students were able to play and experiment without being worried about breaking or damaging the materials. Our unit on geometry is coming up soon. My students will be able to describe the shapes, make new ones and be able to recognize them easily.
