In California. I currently teach a 6th grade ELA class at a public school where over 90 percent of the students qualify for free/reduced lunches. Over 95 percent of my students are English Language Learners. Since I teach ELA, I must model how to do lessons in grammar, spelling, vocabulary, reading, and especially writing. It is very important to show and language learners learning English. It develops their understanding of academic English. My kids have a desire to do well in ELA. By providing a document camera for my class,it allows them to see me "think" through the content. My students work hard and have dreams of attending college. They would like to have important jobs that make a lot of moeny so they could help their family.
