Art in Special Education
Funded Oct 30, 2021Thank you so much for your help in funding this project. The technology provided has given the students a unique learning experience that they thoroughly enjoyed.
The vision of seen the students in complete darkness with only the source of the lightboxes as they worked on their assignments was an amazing experience.
One student has stated that, "Using the lightboxes makes me feel like a professional artist that is working in the office." Another student uses the lightbox to learn how to write their own name and has been increasingly improving in their fine motor skills with the dimmable feature of the lightbox.
Once again my students and I are incredibly grateful for your donations.”

Art for Special Needs
Funded Sep 23, 2021Thank you so much for your generous gift. Most importantly thank you for providing equity to specifically two of my students. Currently, we are using the new resources to help primarily our students with fine motor and/or mobility issues. The pencil grips specifically will be helping students who have difficulties with fine motor skills. They help the students in becoming independent so that they be able to create and take ownership of their own artwork regardless of the outcome.
The acrobat professional overbed/laptop table has assisted two of our students who are in wheelchairs. These two students faced difficulties in the past as they had to navigate creating and even functioning in their day to day. Upon receiving the table student 1 was excited and said "finally, even though its my last year." I had stated that these donations were provided by generous people who donated to provide the table. They then stated that they love it so much they want to take it home with them, even after graduation. Student 2 was equally as excited and wanted to know all about how the desk worked. "Finally after almost 8 years I can eat my lunch on my desk." These two instances really highlight the importance of the donations.
Moving forward I will keep working harder to provide my students equity and equal opportunities. Currently the next steps of a classroom project that the students are working on will be in the creation of a triptych featuring a food chain. In class we explored what a food chain is and what it would their favorite animal look like in a food chain. The triptych serves as a three panel visual organizer for the triptych as it helps the viewer see the flow of energy as one animal eats and gets its energy form another living animal.
Once again thank you for your generous donation and know that I will keep striving to provide equity and quality for my students.”
