  • Bins Ahoy!

    Funded Aug 12, 2021

These bins have been a life saver! We use the bins to get us organized in the classroom. We have our bins filled with our workbooks, folders, notebooks and pencil cases for all our different subjects.

The students were very excited when they saw the bins. Everyone had a choice of their favorite from the vivid, bright colors ( red, yellow, green and blue) that we received. The students do a great job of keeping their books standing perfectly in the bins so that it is almost always clean.

Hopefully, the students learn a lifelong lesson of keeping things clean and organized as they grow older! Thank you so much!”

  • Here We Print!

    Funded May 4, 2021

Thank you for helping the students and I get a printer for the classroom! We are able to make changes to a document and print it right away. We have cut down our waiting time from a day or two to having our prints in a few minutes! This is awesome!

I am able to differentiate student work more easily. I can tailor work to meet students needs! The classroom is a happier place because students are not stuck with something they can't do!

With printing at our fingertips, learning is occurring all the time and has increased student engagement. Thank you donors!”

  • Safe Breathing!

    Funded Jan 31, 2021

We are very grateful for the air purifier we received. The students are very excited to know that they would be safer with cleaner air in the classroom. Clean air is closely correlated with student and teacher health, happiness, high attendance rates and academic performance. At this time, clean air is a major concern with the COVID-19 virus. Students' attendance is higher knowing that the classroom is a safe place. There has also been less illnesses in the classroom because of the air purifier. We are filled with gratitude and greatly indebted to you! Thanks again!”

  • School Supplies Germ-Free!

    Funded Aug 12, 2020

What an amazing show of support to the school and learning community! Our students were able to come to school this year with a confidence that only the school supplies could give! Each student had their own dry erase board and markers to work with. We were furnished with 3 different colored 2-pocket folders, clip boards and notebooks! This also created excitement, students were all smiles as we explained the new style of keeping their own supplies.

This project also supplied different colored folders for different subjects. For the first time, this kept us all organized! We could say, " Please take out your red math folders!" and there was no confusion! Everybody had the same!

Thank you for making this school year truly Germ-Free with the school supplies!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Ofori

  • Teacher, Please Print, Ready to Work!

    Funded Jul 7, 2020

I can not begin to express how having ink to print in the classroom has helped my students. Although there are fewer students in the classroom because of Covid-19, the students are all at different reading and math levels.

After a lesson has been taught, it is expedient to differentiate the material so the students can all be successful!

With the ability to print in the classroom, we do give different level of difficulties for students in math, as well as reading. For example some students can count from 1 to 50 while others need a challenge of counting from 200 to 300! In reading some are at level D while others are at grade level which is J-K.

My students and I are very appreciative of your gift towards us. You make learning accessible to all!”

  • Hangouts Are Real!

    Funded May 28, 2020

When schools had to teach remotely, because of the Covid pandemic, students were given chromebooks to help us teach from home. Donors provided me with a computer so I could have google meets with my students. Since we could not stay online for the duration of a school day, I divided my students into several groups and met with them. This allowed for small group instruction and meeting the students where they were and helping them to learn.

The most exciting thing to my students is the ability to engage virtually and practice basic academic skills. We enjoy sharing a screen so we can see and read the same script. We enjoy reader's theater and math facts daily as well.

All of the students have embraced this new way of teaching and look forward to seeing teachers and students alike without masks! Thank you Donors for your contribution!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Ofori

  • See My Work?

    Funded Jul 20, 2019

This technology of having a printer in the classroom is having a great effect on my class. Students are excited about completing their work so it can be printed for them to show their parents at home. I am also able to print information they need right in the classroom instead of printing it to a common place in the building with long lines to get to the material or going out of the classroom and missing important information.

We are able to make choices on what kind of reading and comprehension texts to use before we print it. Students make great gains when their reading is tied to their interests, especially in reading. They are excited by the fact that on special days, we print in color. That makes them work very hard! They are always presented with worksheets in black and white!

All of the students love the printer but I have some very shy students come out of their shell and make choices because of the printer in the classroom. I really appreciate you donors for making this possible for us here in Schenectady!”

  • Hooray for Small Group Work!

    Funded Dec 28, 2018

Thank you for contributing to our classroom materials. The students were very excited to see the things in the box. My classroom has never been quieter! We have partition folders to help us do our work independently. We have not ran out of pencils and dry ease markers during work time. The table magnetic boards have helped students see the same work done at the teacher table and the guided practice center, where students work with some help from an adult.

The one minute timers are constantly encouraging students to get in more words per minute, thus improving quick recognition of words and improving fluency. Thank you so much for your contribution to our classroom!”

  • Ready, Set, Let's Write!

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

My students and I were very excited to open the huge boxes of supplies that you got for us! They helped me open and set up the dry erase board with storage underneath! We were able to hang our poetry and other pertinent information on the top with the amazing rings. When we turn it around ( we are very pleased it's on wheels!), we are able to use the dry erase part! What an awesome design! Students can come up and write on the board as we learn together. The other equally important part of the board is the storage cart at the bottom. We are able to store our individual dry erase boards, markers ans erasers among other things too.

Students like to use the sand timers to challenge themselves while they work! We are no more short of sharpened pencils in our classroom.

The schedule is pretty colorful and students like moving the arrow to indicate what our next subject is!

You donors have made our classroom a happier place because of your donations!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Ofori

My students come to school with minimal supplies which means that I spend some of my own resources to supplement. I don't mind but a little help will be very much appreciated. Students also spend a long time trying to sharpen pencils which takes time away from the work they need to do. It will be nice to have extra pencils and a sharpener that works so students can get right to work! I believe that the Teach and Store Magnetic Easel will help with organization as well as teaching at a decent height for my students. They can easily reach and write and also keep material in a visible place for their use.
