  • New School, New Needs

    Funded Jan 10, 2024

Thank you kindly for your generous donations to our classroom. The supplies we ordered with this project have made a big impact to our students! Oftentimes, students with learning disabilities have trouble with organization. Your donation got binders for each student, along with tabs so they can learn to go to different tabs for each group. Organization is a valuable skill that will help them throughout their educational careers. Another commonality we face is a struggle with transitions. With the large visual timer, students are able to see how much time is left in each group. This frees up their minds from worrying about when groups will end. The individual sand timers have been helpful for students working independently who are working on transitioning independently. The 5mm laminating sheets are used for visual schedules and reinforcers. They are also a great way to save paper! When students are learning to do something that requires repetition, we have them use the Vis-a-Vis markers on the thick, laminated practice pages. This allows them to also work on their correct pencil grip. The pencil holders have been a great way for students to "park" their pencil so it is always ready to use. And the teaching time visual has been very helpful in teaching students how to tell time to the hour and minutes. Every bit of this project has been used and greatly appreciated!!! Words cannot express how much your support means! Thanks, again!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Neely

  • Supplemental Learning Activities

    Funded Dec 27, 2022

Thank you for your support in purchasing these educational opportunities! These activities were thoughtfully chosen to meet the specific IEP goals of my students. With the incorporation of supplemental activities, my students have averaged 11.92% growth PER MONTH on their academic goals!!! I only wish you could have been in my classroom to witness the excitement on the faces of my students! I've long said that the best way to teach is when students don't realize they're learning. With these games and activities, they always look forward to their learning time in my room! Thank you for helping me reach these challenged students in meaningful ways!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Neely

  • Reading and SEL Resources

    Funded Oct 20, 2022

Thank you for supporting the expanded learning opportunities of the students in my classroom. As we learn new letters, we share the books dedicated to those letters. We play games like, "Touch your nose every time you hear the /a/ sound." These books are helping them connect the letter names and sounds. They have also been enjoying the social/emotional games during our groups. The iPad has opened up possibilities for learning through which they are greatly benefiting. For example, there is a game that has different shapes and they are guided to use the shapes for form letters. There are other iPad games that require them to find number combinations to equal a total. As we know, different students learn differently. Your support really helps me reach more students!”

  • The Dragon Masters!

    Funded Oct 13, 2022

Because of your generosity, my 3rd grade students have been enjoying reading chapter books as a group for the first time! They chose the book series and are motivated to get through all of the books! As we read, we are also writing brief summaries of each chapter. With this extra step, we are extending learning from reading and fluency, to also include comprehension and finding the main idea. Additionally, they are learning to read with expression, as well as how to help and/or encourage others in a positive way.

Thank you for making a difference in the lives and futures of these students, as well as the students in years to come who will also benefit from these books!”

  • Small Group Supplies

    Funded Mar 5, 2022

Our students have really enjoyed the materials you helped provide. From learning multiplication and division fact families, to learning to get along in a group and collaboratively read chapter books - the excitement to learn keeps growing in our room! Part of this purchase was a set of a series of books for 3rd grade readers. After we finished each book, we made a poster of the front cover that hung on the wall. This school year, there was an unforeseen benefit that arose from that. Since the first day of reading groups this year, my third graders have been asking about when they GET to start reading chapter books and making posters! I've never had a group of struggling readers so excited for the opportunity to read chapter books! Thanks, again!”

  • Print !

    Funded Oct 18, 2021

Thank you so much for your support! This printer/scanner has already become an invaluable part of our classroom. It allows us to quickly make another copy if an extra person joins our group, has allowed us to make our hallway bulletin boards more colorful, and is useful for printing out IEPs for parents following our meetings. The best feeling is when a student is so proud of the work they completed, that they want to make a copy to take home and show off! Anything we can do to build up their self-esteem is appreciated!”

  • Settling in for the Long Haul

    Funded Apr 19, 2021

Thank you for your continued support. During the Covid related school building closure, I was working twice as many hours to provide the same instruction to my students. In the beginning, we thought it was a short-term problem... That is not how it turned out. I realized after several months of pain caused by sitting 10+ hours a day in a chair at my dining table that my body couldn't continue that punishment. Having an ergonomic chair again allowed me to put my best foot forward for my students as I was no longer distracted by the immense pain! Thank you!”

  • Social Emotional Book Set plus Writing, Math, and Art supplies

    Funded Oct 4, 2020

Our students have really been enjoying the Ninja social stories. Each book gives them a mantra to remember how to control that particular skill in their lives. Every time I bring out one of the books, I hear a resounding "yeah!!!" It has been very nice to have the wide assortment of books because it allows me to pull out books relevant to challenges they are currently encountering.

We have also enjoyed the beeswax crayons. The students wanted to make Christmas ornaments during a social group in December, so we used the crayons to make brightly colored ornaments. When we laminated them, the beeswax melted and made them even more vibrant!”

  • Social/Emotional Supplies

    Funded Nov 18, 2019

My students have really been enjoying these supplies. I always have one puzzle out, and they have gotten very good at sharing, working together, and transitioning away from it when needed. It has also been a common ground for students to forge friendships, that were previously unlikely. The books have come in very handy for planning Social/Emotional curriculum. "What Should Danny Do?" has been especially well liked, as they get to make choices (red or green) and see how it impacts Danny's day. We have been working toward finding all 9 endings :) One student loved it so much he asked Santa for his own copy! Thank you for making a difference in the lives of my students!”

  • New Special Education Classroom in Need

    Funded Nov 4, 2019

The supplies donated by my amazing friends and family have greatly benefited my students. These items have provided opportunities for them to work through much needed skills of sharing, working together toward a common goal, and getting along during "unstructured" play time. When my students first saw the supplies, they squealed with joy, and many were nearly moved to tears! They couldn't believe that people who didn't know them cared enough to give them such wonderful gifts! Thank you, again, from the bottom of my heart!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Neely

My students struggle a lot with the social/emotional skills necessary to work with others, especially during unstructured activities. I have been building up my collection of choices since I accepted this position over the summer. I teach daily lessons explicitly covering social skills, and I try make time for them to practice those skills at the end of the lessons. The school and district are extremely limited in these types of cooperative play choices that my students need. I have found an improvement in how frequently my students are written up at recess since initiating this model. I have also included some fun learning activities for them to “play” on Fridays after a hard week of lessons, that still teaches the concepts needed to meet their annual IEP goals.
