We are so grateful for our "Adding Tech to Our Learning " project. The addition of a new iPad has allowed my students to learn through an interactive and creative way. My students are beyond thrilled to redefine their learning using hands-on and project-based activities.

The new iPad has made rigorous learning feel like play. My students have used the iPad to practice their sight words using Osmo games, access various educational apps, digital books, and coding programs to help them learn in an innovative way.

Thank you for this wonderful opportunity. The iPad has been a wonderful addition and has allowed us to implement more STEM/technology into our classroom. Thank you for helping my students learn in a fun and creative way!”

  • Lets Bee-Bot Our Way to Literacy!

    Funded Aug 12, 2019

We are so grateful for our "Lets Bee-Bot Our Way to Literacy" project. The bee-bots have allowed my students to learn through an interactive and creative way. My students are beyond thrilled to create an educational space that allows them to explore and create.

The new Bee-Bots have made rigorous learning feel like play. My students have used the bee-bots to practice their sight words, content vocabularies, and letter sounds. We even created our own Thanksgiving Day Parade Balloons! After reading Balloons Over Broadway, students participated in a Thanksgiving Parade balloon STEM challenge. They created a balloon design that kept the balloon afloat, experimented their device on the bee-bot and used critical thinking to improve their design. It was a fun way to incorporate STEM into our learning.

Thank you for this wonderful opportunity. These materials have been a wonderful addition and have allowed us to implement more STEM/technology into our classroom. Thank you for helping my students learn in a fun, creative and engaging way!”

  • Pizza, Pizza, Everywhere!

    Funded Feb 28, 2019

We are so grateful for our "Pizza, Pizza, Everywhere" project. The opportunity to attend a pizza workshop was a dream come true for most of my newcomer students. My students were beyond thrilled to create their own pizza and how-to books.

This amazing project afforded my students the opportunity to learn through an interactive hands-on workshop. Through this workshop my students learned the ingredients and basic steps of making pizza. The best part was having the opportunity to share our experience in our writing workshop. My English learners had so much to share about their experience that it made our writing workshop a success.

Thank you for helping my students learn English in a fun and interactive way!”

The Osmo games have allowed my students to use physical objects to solve puzzles, spell words, and learn the basics of coding.

  • Creating a Space for Innovation

    Funded Dec 31, 2018

We are so grateful for our "Creating a Space for Innovation" project. The 3Doodlers pens, Magformers, and gears have allowed my students to learn language through an interactive and creative way. My students are beyond thrilled to create an educational space that allows them to explore and create. The STEM activities have introduced my students to new science, math, and technology ideas and concepts.

With these materials, my students were able to immerse in the English language in a much more meaningful way. The 3Doodlers pens have been a great addition to my classroom. They provide a challenge for students because they have to learn how to use the pens as well as be creative in their projects. Second graders learned about different animal habitats and different ways animals adapt to their environment. Students created a winter home for their animals and explained how the animal was able to survive in their newly designed home. Fourth graders learned about the snowflake cycle in order to better understand what causes a blizzard. They were able to create their own snowflakes using the 3Doodler pen. The 3Dooders pens have afforded my students the opportunity to bring their learning to life.

This project was so successful, that we hope to continue it for years to come. Many of these supplies can be used again next year as well. The students are having a great time exploring the 3D pens and I can't wait to see what they create. Thank you for helping my students learn English in a fun, creative and engaging way!”

  • Lights, Camera, Action and a Theater Performance of a Lifetime

    Funded Sep 29, 2018

We are so grateful for our Lights, Camera, Action and a Theater Performance of a Lifetime project. The opportunity to attend a live theater performance in the middle of Times Square was a dream come true for many of my newcomer students.

With the New Victory Theater Partnership my students were able to learn about the first Ethiopian Circus Abyssinia. The partnership not only allowed my students to visit the theater but it provided them with the opportunity to partake in an Ethiopian Circus workshop before heading to the theater. The workshop allowed my students to immerse in the Ethiopian culture and try some new circus tricks. These scholars watched the real life brothers Bibi and Bichu follow their dreams and fulfill the HEARTS value Aspiration of someday joining the Ethiopian Circus Abyssinia.

This project was so successful that we hope to attend more shows this school year. The membership is active until June and there are so many amazing performances waiting for our attendance. Thank you for helping my students learn English in a fun and interactive way!”

  • Strive to Thrive in ESL!

    Funded Aug 14, 2018

We are so grateful for our Strive to Thrive ESL project. The interactive educational games that you've donated have helped my students enhance their vocabulary every day. We've used them to learn new words, write sentences, role-play, categorize and engage in social interactions. My students are beyond thrilled to practice English in a new, fun and non-traditional way.

With these materials, my students were able to immerse in the English language in a much more meaningful way. With games such as HedBanz and Sneaky Squirrel they were able to incorporate the skills learned in previous lessons to the game/s. For instance, one of our lessons was targeting verbs and present simple tense sentences. Students used their sentences to help describe an animal to their peers and help them guess the targeted animal. Students did such a great job using descriptive language and grammatically correct sentences that everyone guessed their animals correctly.

This project was so successful, that we hope to continue it for years to come. Many of these supplies can be used again next year as well. We still have about 6 more games to open and try and I can't wait to see the outcome. Thank you for helping my students learn English in a fun, creative and engaging way!"”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. P

As an educator of the 21st century, it is essential I provide my students with the variety tools to be successful. By having interactive educational games, my students will have the opportunity to review skills and apply knowledge learned in the classroom. It is important that I create ways for all students to be rigorously engaged on their learning while playing games. As an ENL teacher, I will be teaching English to a variety group of English language learners. As research proves learning language through games can be essential in helping students improve their vocabulary building skills. For example, traditional games such as Apples to Apples can be used in a variety of ways to build language and vocabulary. Students can practice naming/ identifying parts of speech practice: nouns, adjectives, and synonyms. Another alternative is to have students come up with as many words for the describing word in a minute. The person with the most words win! The possibilities are endless! I believe these games will make a difference in our classroom and make learning fun and interactive!
