Teaching With Tech
Funded Jun 7, 2019My students and I are super grateful for your donations. Your donations have helped us unlock a new world of possibilities in the classroom. Having access to technology in the classroom increased student learning tremendously. Students are using the Chromebooks to work on specialized learning assignments. Thanks to technology I can expose my students to the skills that will benefit them the most. Essentially, I can teach a number of lessons at one time. We are well on our way to closing the achievement gap and it's a big thanks to you.
My students are most excited about the independent research and projects they get to do thanks to your donations. My students are currently wrapping up their science unit on astronomy. Students have asked a number of questions about the topic and I was able to direct them to the world wide web to get their answers. Now, they have become masters of the planets, stars, and constellations of their choosing and they are teaching their classmates and even me! This is marvelous.
The Chromebooks are also teaching my students to be responsible and careful. I like to see them reminding their classmates the expectations of the Chromebooks. My students are taking very good care of the technology in our classroom. They really appreciate them.
Thanks for all that you've done! Thanks for believing in us!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Williams

Funded Aug 14, 2018I would like to start this letter off by stating that I am filled with immense gratitude for the contributions you all have made to my classroom. When the project initially started, I wanted to provide my students from low income households with school supplies and organizational tools as a way to prepare them for the independence of being in middle school. Your donations helped provide so much more.
Not only did my students come into a fully stocked classroom with the supplies they needed to be successful (pencils, staples for reading packets, post it notes to track their thinking, etc), they came into a classroom that made them feel free to learn. I have shared pictures of my student reading and writing. In these pictures you see students reading in our library that has a stand that many of them says belongs in a home living room. They go to that area of the room to get comfortable and if I had to take an educated guess, students who request to go to that area of the room are trying to find a bit more enjoyment in reading. That's a win for us all!
I just released my students for winter break. We finished our first novel, "The Lightning Thief" and when we come back, we will begin reading "Bud Not Buddy". I am excited to continue this journey with my 6th grade readers and writers. My goal is to create more and more students who value education, who are free and critical thinkers, and who take control of their own learning by identifying the tools they need to be successful. You all have given me-them a great start.
Your kindness is greatly appreciated.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Williams
