Support Scarcely Speaking Students

It has been over a month since the iPad made it's grand entrance to our classroom. The students have begun learning how to use it for communication. It is being used everyday during our circle instructional time and during snack time. During circle time, I use the Airplay feature to connect it to an Apple TV device that is hooked up to my projector. I love how my students with visual impairments are now able to see more of what is happening during circle time because the image is so much larger and easier for them to see. Two students have begun to use it to communicate basic needs such as needing the use the restroom and which activity they would like to go to next. While I have always believed they had a lot of personality, it's been amazing to learn so many new aspects of them since the iPad has been in our class.”
