Capturing Family History, Memories and Genealogy Through Scrapbooking!
Funded Jun 10, 2024Thank you so much for your generosity donating to our Memory Makers Scrapbooking club. My students' faces lit up as we unpacked the boxes full of so many wonderful supplies to inspire them to get creative; they were so excited! There are so many supplies that students get to choose from as they research some of their family history and capture important moments by creating scrapbook pages.
For this project, students are researching important events, people and history from their family and culture. They bring in family photos that match some of the information they find, and then they get to be creative in designing scrapbook pages to capture and keep these memories forever. Their creativity is unbelievable, and their joy in completing this project is such a wonderful experience to give them. It would not have been possible without your generosity, so we would all just like to express our gratitude for what you have done for us.”

Funded Sep 29, 2022Thank you so much for your donation to our Reading Timeline Project. Students were able to choose from a variety of colored file folders to help create their project. For this project, students reflected on important books from their lives and creatively displayed these books on a timeline. Students used the file folders, index cards, and other supplies to create amazing projects.
The students were so excited to choose their colors! Most had a hard time deciding which colored folder to pick! I was truly amazed at how creative the students were making this project. The brightness of the colored folders helped bring the project to life.
I love letting my students' innovation and imaginations shine; thank you for contributing to this project and making it possible.”

Funded Dec 10, 2020Thank you so much for contributing to my project for a new touchscreen laptop and portable drive. I am able to fully engage with my students through the use of these new materials.
As an English teacher, I teach my students how to write and engage with various text. It is important for me to be able to annotate on my documents to show my students how to write and analyze text. It is extremely helpful being about to write on the screen of the laptop over a document to show students exactly what I am describing. I am able to make annotations on the sides of the document to help the students understand the information we are learning about better.
Some of my students have learning disabilities and when they can see my notes on the document, they say it has been helpful for them being able to better understand. I am able to use the laptop like I use a blackboard in the classroom. Many students are visual learners, and this helps make the material more approachable and understandable for students since I can write over the information being presented because it is a touch screen laptop!! Thank you so much for your help in making this a reality. Remote learning would have been almost impossible for me without this.”

Funded Aug 23, 2019Thank you so much for your donation of various art supplies, such as construction paper, colored pencils and many Sharpie markers, to our classroom! We are teaching in an era focused on testing and assessments which has robbed students of much creativity in school. Because of your donation, my students will be engaged in activities that encourage their creativity and imagination, as well as their intelligence.
My students have already used the supplies to create plot structure diagrams and theme mind maps. Students analyzed various texts to gain a deeper understanding, yet instead of writing out more written responses, they were able to exercise their creative side as they showed what they learned about the texts.
Students are excited and engaged in the analysis of literature when they can express their understanding in various ways. Using posters to convey their own understanding allows students who sometimes become disengaged in lessons the opportunity to shine. The joy students have when sharing out their creations is the exact reason I asked for these supplies. Thank you again for your generosity.”

Creating Lifelong Readings In A Digital World
Funded Nov 16, 2012Thank you so much for your generous donation to my class. Because of your generosity, my students have received subscriptions to two magazines, Scholastic Scope and Choice.
Students have been engaged in reading and analyzing different articles and texts in the magazines. These subscriptions have captured my students' attention and interest as they have been building up their reading and critical thinking skills. The magazines contain various types of writing, from non-fiction to drama to fiction, that the children truly enjoy reading. Since they are enjoying the many texts, they are more engaged in the learning and lessons. The magazines are current and relevant to their lives, which helps them build their reading skills.
Again, please accept my gratitude for your generosity and believing in the education of our children.”

Funded Feb 7, 2010Thank you so much for your generous contribution to my project. With your help, my students were able to receive multiple copies of the latest series of books, "The Lighning Thief" and "Inkheart". These books have been so popular with my students! They can't get through them fast enough to get to the next one.
This has had many benefits. One benefit is getting students to discuss books they are reading. By engaging in book clubs, students have the desire to discuss the events of the book with others. By having conversations about the books, students really have to comprehend and synthesize the events and actions of the book. Another benefit is to have students continuously reading. Students are so engaged by these books, they can't wait to get to the next one. This, of course, increases students' comprehension and fluency skills, both of which are goals for their academic year.
It is truly enjoyable to watch my students grow into more intelligent young ladies and gentlemen throughout the school year. I work as diligently as I can to help them achieve their goals. Without people like you, we could not be as successful as we are in our class. Thanks again for your generosity and contributions.”

Funded Jan 14, 2010Thank you so much for your generous contribution toward my project, "Reading a Morning Paper with 'Coffee' ". Because of your contribution, my students look forward to reading different genres and forms of literature.
We use the magazines often to have a more relaxed approach toward reading. Students have beverages and snacks while they are reading to simulate how adults read their own periodicals. My students have really taken to this and can't wait for the next time we do this activity.
It has also led to terrific conversations and discussions about what they are reading. Students engage in lively conversations with each other about what they read. What they don't realize they are doing, however, is they are engaging in analyzing and synthesizing the text. These are skills that enhance their understanding of everything they read. I love when they can connect what they do with the magazines to other aspects of literature.
Thank you again for your help in turning these students into voracious readers who really enjoy these activities. We look forward to participating in these activities for the remainder of the school year.”

Funded Feb 13, 2009Thank you so much for your donation to help us purchase bean bag chairs. My students absolutely love them. Engaging students in reading on a daily basis helps them to develop a love of reading that will stay with them long after school. Using the bean bag chairs to get comfortable during their reading time is something they all look forward to. Because of your generosity, my students have become more engaged and interested in their daily reading. Thank you again for your donation.”

Enriching Students Through Projects
Funded Jan 4, 2009I want to thank you for funding our enrichment project. My students have many creative ideas about their family history projects. With your help, my students' imaginations can soar! Students will be creating a variety of projects in which they research their family history and their diverse cultures. Because each student is unique, their culminating projects will also be unique. Having supplies allows them to focus on their creativity and research rather than where and how to get supplies. Thank you very much for your generosity”

Essential Writing Resources
Funded Apr 27, 2008Thank you so much for the donations of dictionaries and thesauruses. They will be a tremendous help in the classroom. Right now we don't have ANY resources available to help students during writing workshops.
