My first graders absolutely love interacting with technology whenever they can! They love using iReady, which is an amazing program where students receive extra support in both reading and math on an individual basis. While they have access to laptops throughout the day for individual instruction, my class also loves to interact with technology as a whole class. Many times I find amazing videos through websites such as BrainPop and Scholastic that support what they are currently learning in the classroom. We also have access to many interactive videos and learning opportunities through the curriculum on the Pearson website. I show these videos to my kiddos on my small laptop screen throughout the day and I always have 100% engagement as they struggle to watch and sing along with whatever video we are watching on my small laptop screen. They would absolutely love to be able to see these videos on a large screen in our classroom.
Whether we are singing along to a sight word rap or watching an educational video on the life cycle of an apple tree, my class LOVES learning while watching videos set to music. I will often hear them singing these songs to themselves throughout the day and wish that we could incorporate more of this type of learning into our classroom. Please consider helping Room 105 to reach our goal of purchasing a projector to enhance our learning experiences!
