Desk Shields for Our Super Students!
Funded Apr 29, 2021We are so thrilled to have these shields as an extra level of protection in our classroom! Due to being back in a full classroom and not being able to socially distance as we wold want, they are very beneficial and make us feel safe when we are working with others so closely -- such as when we share our math thinking, when we read together, do science or when we do art projects. Thank you for helping us feel safer during these times. It makes having fun so much easier. We are forever grateful for donors like you!”

Scholars Have Basic Needs That Will Help Us Succeed!
Funded Aug 22, 2018Again, thank you so much for your generous donations! When my students first saw the materials they were VERY ecstatic to know that yet again, people from around the country had helped us get a bunch of new materials for our classroom!
Our whiteboard tripod has especially come in handy during writing workshop and reading workshop. I use the board to put up charts (as shown in the pictures) and it becomes so much more accessible and convenient for students while they sit at the rug and engage in the lesson. I have used the Writing Strategies book along with our curriculum at school to implement lessons and make them more interesting and enjoyable for my students as well.
The kids absolutely LOVED our library cushions. You can't see the cushions much in the pictures, because they're being used by them every single day as they try to find a spot in our library. The printer paper came in handy especially during times where I have to print out math problems and activities for them.
My next steps are to continue using the books I received: "Being the Change: Lessons and Strategies to Teach Social Comprehension", "The Wild Card: 7 Steps to an Educator's Creative Breakthrough" and "The Writing Strategies Book: Your Everything Guide to Developing Skilled Writers" to create lessons catered to all my student's needs.”

Funded Mar 27, 2018I cannot express how thankful I am for your generosity that made all of this possible! My students were so happy to see all the new materials and they were especially excited to know that people who don't even know us were so generous and contributed to us having all these materials!
We are using every single thing we got donated. Our partitions have worked perfectly for students during quizzes and assessments, as well as whenever they need a little space. We use our personal whiteboards almost daily for math, cursive and other things! Our clipboards are our favorite! We use them every time we want to go write and sit on the rug or even take it outside during recess if we want to draw/write. Our ink cartridges have helped us with having a printer in our room for easier access. We use post-it's to answer our Friday circle questions on the board or to save our spots in our books, too! Truly, we use every single thing and we could not have done it without you!
Our next steps are to continue finding different ways to use all the items we received. We absolutely cannot wait to see what the rest of the year has for us!
Thank you!”

Ms. G.

Funded Jul 28, 2017I cannot express how grateful I am for all your generosity and allowing me to have a classroom stocked with books all my students are enjoying each and every day. My students love to read independently and love read aloud too. It has been amazing reading books that represent the lives of important people in this world and expose them to real life problems. We have had such rich discussions about immigrants, racism, segregation, language, bullying, and even discussions about all the gifts we all possess and how we all have gifts we can use in the classroom.
My students have really enjoyed having these discussions and are so happy when they know there will be a read aloud. They ASK for read alouds and want to reread books we've read as a class, individually. They ask questions. They're eager to know more and it makes me so proud to see them wanting to be more informed and learn about the lives and perspectives of others.
Because MLK day just passed, we talked a lot about segregation and discrimination. We read a couple books about protests and marches, where students were later able to connect to MLK and the way he practiced non violence. It sss incredible to see the passion the kids had towards this subject and I cannot wait to see more of this happening in the future.
Thank you once again!!! I could not have done any of this without your help.”
With gratitude,
Ms. G.

Funded Jul 7, 2017From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank you again for your generosity that helped me reach my goal of starting off the school year with a variety of books for my third graders to enjoy in our classroom library. My students absolutely LOVE to come to the classroom library and sit on the rug to enjoy a good book. A lot of my students love to read chapter books, too! With your donation, I was able to get students to LOVE reading and love independent reading time. I have students who can sit for hours reading a book, and it brings a smile to my face that I was able to provide a small library for them when they set foot in my classroom, that I could only hope to grow in the coming years.
I have students who LOVE the Boxcar Children series books and wish they had more. SO many students were excited to see the whole Roald Dahl collection I had and I am in the process of acquiring more Captain Underpants books, because they are for sure a class favorite! I wish I could have the whole series.
During the first week of school we read books such as A Bad Case of Stripes and Spaghetti In A Hot Dog Bun, which we learned valuable lessons from. We learned how to appreciate other's differences and had rich discussions about teasing people and bullying. The students LOVED being able to talk about this during the first days of school and even connected this to Martin Luther King's "I Have Dream Speech" a month later. My students also read these books and have discussions about the author's purpose and use these books to learn how to make predictions as well. I am eager to see how much more my students will learn from all these books you have donated not only by reading independently, but hearing these books read aloud. I am also excited to keep seeing the love my students have for reading, because it makes me feel great that something they love is accessible in my classroom, thanks to you.”
With gratitude,
Ms. G.
