This year, more than ever, students are in need of one-to-one technology. The funding for this necessity has not been a priority in our state and therefore our kids do not have daily access to the digital world. By funding this project, we will put a Chromebook in the hands of each student, to have technology at their fingertips for use both in the classroom and during distance learning.
Education looks completely different than it did 8 months ago. We now are learning 3 feet from peers and 6 feet from teachers. We are lucky to have spent most of this year In Person at the elementary level in our District. However, we have not been able to take advantage of any of the amazing technological advances happening in education while at school due to lack of access to technology.
Currently, we have one IPad cart that 5 classrooms rotate sharing. Typically, we have use of the Computer Lab as well, but due to room capacity restrictions, we are unable to use it this year because our class has too many kids. So, my students get access to devices for just one day a week. This limited time does not allow for my students to gain any type of comfort or better their skills with technology.
In addition, when they go home, most are sharing devices with siblings and parents. They are not achieving enough practice in either location to allow for successful use of all that is available to bring the world to their fingertips.
Your support of this project will mean that students this year and all those to come will be guaranteed a year to learn, practice and succeed with technology while in my class. We ALL thank you for helping to meet our funding goal!!
