  • Technology for Quality Distance Learning

    Funded Oct 22, 2020

Having a new laptop to use during distance learning really helped me provide quality instruction to my students. I was struggling with my older personal laptop and had not been given a laptop from my school site, so getting the support from donors really made and impact on my teaching.

I am truly appreciative for all of the donations that I received. I am thankful that I was able to give my students as much support as possible during the most difficult school year. Having a faster computer allowed us to communicate through Zoom and continue making connections digitally. Thank you again for your generous donations!”

  • Help Me Create a Multicultural Environment for My Students

    Funded Jul 5, 2019

Thank you so much for your donation to this project. The multicultural books that my classroom received quickly became favorites among my students. My students are able to borrow any book from my library to read and can keep the book for as long as they'd like. I encourage my students to read whatever interests them, and when students are unsure of what to read I try to introduce them to new books that they have never heard of before.

I really love having so many books to offer my students because all my students are unique and have different interests. Having multicultural books is very important to me because they allow my students to see characters in books that they can relate to. Some of the stories they read relate to their personal lives and make them more interesting to them! Thank you again for your donations!”

  • Help Me Expand My Library!

    Funded Jul 17, 2019

My students have really enjoyed the books that were donated through this project. Students have especially loved the Harry Potter series and are taking turns reading the books. Most of my students really love fiction stories, and a few are starting to find interest in nonfiction texts.

In my classroom, students are given dedicated time for independent reading. I try to help match students to books that match their interests, or I try to help them find new genres of books that they can appreciate. Students all have their independent reading level which gives them a guideline on the books they are able to comprehend on their own.

Thank you so much for helping me expand my library and give my students more books to choose from!”

  • Board Games For Logical and Reasoning Skills

    Funded Jul 13, 2019

We are using the board games we received with this project as a fun activity that allows students to work on their problem solving skills. Every Friday students are allowed to pick a game they would like to try out and are encouraged to play against different opponents. I have heard some great conversations goin on during this time, like students finding a way to decide who will go first and helping explain rules to each other.

When my students first saw all the board games we had thanks to this project, they were so excited! They were excited to get to play the games, without realizing that this would help them with their social-emotional development. They continue to pick new games and learn to work out problems with different people.”

My students are having difficulty holding pencils, cutting with scissors and even opening food packages. They need to have extra time to work on their fine motor skills so they can be able to accomplish all of our kindergarten goals. These materials will allow my students to excel in kindergarten. The materials I chose all help students start using their fingers in specific ways that they are not used to. The pencil grips will make it easier for students to maneuver writing tools that they need to write their names and number. Help me get the materials my students desperately need to improve their fine motor skills!
