  • Let’s Decompress in a Tent

    Funded May 9, 2025

Woo-hoo!! Another project funded!!! Teacher Appreciation Week is the best! Thank you to all who contributed! As always, my students are so lucky to have generous supporters like you! The Donors Choose platform has changed the lives of so many students and as a teacher, I am so appreciative for all they do!!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. D’Ambrosio

  • Toys for the Boys (And Girl)

    Funded May 23, 2024

Since receiving all these wonderful toys, I have witnessed so much social growth within my students!! Some of my students are thriving with imaginary play, while others are creating beautiful arts and craft projects!! Not only have their independent play skills improved, but also their reciprocal play, which can be a challenge to foster.

Also, the weighted lap pads and blankets have helped with keeping my students focused and engaged in these preferred activities for extended periods of time.”

    With gratitude,

  • Let’s Get Inspired by Science!

    Funded Dec 6, 2022

My students have had such a blast with all the science materials we have received! With the Learning Science Activity Tubs, I have created a science center where my students are able to explore concepts such as Rocks & Soil, Plants, Animals, Weather, Insects, Force & Motion, Matter, and the Solar System. Since I have several students who love to build, the "Design Build Engineering Centers"and "Building Bricks Stem Challenge" have been absolutely perfect for challenging my students to create functional structures while also having fun!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. D’Ambrosio

  • Group Work Makes the Dream Work

    Funded Nov 22, 2019

Due to sensory processing disorders, my students need help focusing and attending during group lessons. Through the use of the "Science and Math Instant Learning Centers"' I have been able to conduct meaningful and manageable small groups with my students.

My students love morning circle, so incorporating the "Calendar Math Activity" has added a new, fun, and engaging twist to our standard morning circle!

Overall, these activities have helped my students attend to academic tasks during group work, which has been such a game changer!”

  • My Students are Gems, so Let’s Give Them STEM!

    Funded Nov 17, 2023

Thank you so much for helping my students receive these awesome STEM toys!! STEM activities are so important for enhancing creativity and problem-solving skills. Since my classroom consists of varying learning levels, having a variety of STEM activities has ensured that all my students are appropriately exposed to STEM. Some of my students have been able to focus on cause and effect at a more advanced level through the "Create a Chain-Reaction STEM kit and GEARS! Robot Factory STEM kit", while other students have been able to build simple structures with "Picassso Tiles" and the "STEM Builder Series Build an Animal Kit".

My students' socialization skills have also benefited from these items as they are learning to work together to create projects, as well as share and take turns. Thank you so much!!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. D’Ambrosio

  • Not-So-Basic Basics

    Funded Oct 5, 2022

Thank you so much to those who contributed to my project. All the bins that I received have been so clutch with keeping my classroom organized! I have been able to organize my worksheets by month, by letter, and by theme. It's so nice opening up my storage closet and knowing exactly where everything is!

Also, since I don't have functional bulletin boards in my classroom but have lots of metal cabinets, the magnetic clips have been great with hanging up calendars and other pocket charts. The construction paper storage center is also amazing and makes it so much easier to grab the colors that I need for our crafts.

Once again, thank you so much!!”

    With gratitude,

Thank you so much to all who donated! As teachers, professional development is so important. We need to stay up-to-date on the current research so that we can continue to be effective teachers. My students experience sensory overload on a daily basis; noises are too loud, lights are too bright, fabrics are too itchy. Being unable to properly process the world around them causes them to engage in socially unacceptable behaviors, which hinder their learning. Through the use of items such as BodySox, deep pressure sensory vests, and noise-canceling headphones, my students will be provided with an opportunity to learn the skills necessary to function in our world. Instead of aggressively attacking a peer because they were too loud, they can wear their noise-canceling headphones. Rather than running around the room and being unable to sit in a chair, they can wear their deep pressure sensory vest. Overall, these tools will help my students attend to tasks that can address their deficits. They can learn their letters, numbers, and colors; they can learn how to communicate their wants and needs and develop their fine motor skills.
