75 percent of students at my school receive free or reduced lunch. It is critical for my students to learn necessary skills in my classroom to help improve their lives. We work hard everyday on skills in reading and math. We also work on everyday life skills to help prepare for life beyond school. Some of our students are non-verbal and they love to work with hand-on materials like painting and making things with beads. The students also need these activities as they cannot do these at home. Reading fiction and non-fiction books can also be an extra source of learning for our students.
