The performing arts were practically eliminated during the 2020-2021 school year. It seemed like we'd never be able to have groups of children singing and dancing together on a stage again. For many students, the performing arts is the avenue they use to express themselves, build self-confidence, and develop relationships. It also encourages literacy development, motivates students to attend school, and helps them learn new skills, both as onstage performers and as backstage participants. The skills they learn can be applied in many other areas of their lives, not just performing. It's time to bring back the performing arts!
The supplies requested will help us SAFELY bring back the performing arts, as we learn to navigate our teaching in the midst of the pandemic. Our elementary school drama club is planning to perform "Peter Pan, Jr." in the spring. In order to safely rehearse singing and dancing numbers, we would like to conduct rehearsals outdoors. The pop-up canopy tents will be used in a grassy field area so students have a covered, outdoor, well-ventilated space to practice. We are also requesting clear masks for students to wear during performances. This will allow audience members to see facial expressions while the students remain safely masked. The last request is for make-up supplies which will be used during performances. To minimize the sharing of products, we are ordering multiples of each item as well as cleaning systems for the make-up brushes.
Thank you for supporting the performing arts!
