  • Technology for Early Learners

    Funded May 12, 2012

Thank you so much for your generous contribution to my classroom. Technology is an important component of instruction in my classroom and it is a very useful tool in helping atypical learners increase achievement. Technology provides students with visual, tactile and auditory experiences that help them more quickly learn academic content such as mathematics, science and reading. The materials provided helped to teach math concepts such as adding, telling time to the hour and coin identification. In literacy, it helped to increase sight word labeling/identification and phonemically decoding words. In science, students were able to visual learn about topics such as sea creatures and the planets.

Thank you for helping my students achieve and reaching their potential.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Schultz

  • School Projector

    Funded Mar 15, 2012

Thank you for your generous donation to our school. The materials you have helped to provide have helped to increase many skills in several areas of development. Social skills have been increased as students with differing capabilities are able to come together during our school assemblies and share with one another and participate in group functions. The projector has been an excellent resource in teaching new academic skills to both students and teachers in a large group setting. Speech and language skills have been enhanced as the students are able to meet as a group and exchange thoughts and converse with one another. Thanks again for your generous donations and working hard to continually improve our school.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Schultz

  • Positive Behavior Interventions and Support

    Funded Mar 18, 2012

Thank you for your generous donation to our school. The resources you have provided have already made a positive impact on the school's learning environment. Last week, during testing week, the materials were successful in reinforcing positive student behaviors such as focusing and completing their tests. Overall, there has been an increase in positive behaviors as additional resources have been added to the positive behavior intervention and support program.

Many social skills have been directly impacted by the materials such as cooperative play, sharing and turn taking. Thank you again for helping our students achieve at the highest level possible.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Schultz

  • Literacy for Early Learners

    Funded Mar 15, 2012

Thank you so much for your generous donation to my classroom. The literacy tubs and rhyming tubs have helped to increase achievement for my students in many domains. Academically, they are demonstrating increased phonemic awareness, for example, when I ask the students what starts with the letter 'D' they are able to give many examples. They are almost all able to provide letter sounds and they are increasingly providing examples of rhymes. Other skills that have been enhanced include feature, function, class questions, for example, 'tell me which one is a vehicle'.

Speech&language skills have improved as the students are increasingly labeling objects, parts of a whole and using prepositions, adjectives and pronouns. In turn, this has led to increased social/emotional skills such as sitting in group, sharing items and turn taking.

I can go on and on about how helpful these materials have been. Thank you for providing me with the materials that help me to teach at the highest level possible. As you can see from the photos, my students are having fun learning, which is most important of all.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Schultz

  • Geography for Preschoolers

    Funded Dec 29, 2011

Thank you for your generous donations to my classroom. The students all have a joy for learning and geography is one of their favorite topics. They were all immediately attracted to the new carpet and started walking on the states and naming them. This new resource has helped the students better understand location and where they fit in the world. Most are now able to name many states by form and they are able to better understand adjectives such as left and right and directions such as north and south. The carpet also provides the students with an additional clean, safe and attractive work area.

The globe has been excellent in helping the students learn about the world beyond the United States. It has opened up conversations about other continents and the different people and animals that live there. Words cannot stress enough how important the generosity of people such as yourselves is to teachers and students.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Schultz

  • Puzzles for Preschoolers

    Funded Dec 8, 2011

Thank you for your generous donation to my classroom. The students enjoy all of the new materials and use them on a daily basis. They especially enjoy the states puzzle and the alphabet soup cans. On several occasions students have worked together to complete the states puzzle; not only increasing academic skills but invaluable social skills such as sharing and cooperative play. The alphabet soup cans have a permanent place in our pretend play area and the cans enhance both phonemic awareness and dramatic play skills.

The students also enjoy the puzzles and magnetic blocks. Achievement has been increased in multiple domains using these materials including academic skills such as problem solving, social skills and speech/language skills.

Words cannot adequately express the joy you have brought to my students. It is because of donors like you that teachers are able to help students reach their full potential.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Schultz

  • Scientific Inquiry for Life-Long Learning

    Funded Dec 2, 2011

My students and I couldn't be happier with our new science resources. The students are all excited by the new materials and it has helped to drive instruction and increase academic achievement. The rocket ship has helped increase the students' understanding of space exploration and enhanced many social and language skills that are crucial to the development of early learners on the autism spectrum.

The agate slices and magnifying glasses have been an excellent compliment to our light table and has helped increase the students' understanding of size concepts and light. The measuring cylinders and eye droppers are being used in our water table and have increased understanding of volume, size and opposites.

We have only just received some of the resources so we are in the process of exploring the volcano and robot. The students are intrigued by both so I am sure they will help with many skills.

Thank you again for your generous contributions to our room. These resources have helped to spark interest in many new topics and make learning fun. ”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Schultz

  • Science for Preschoolers

    Funded Oct 23, 2011

Thank you for your generous donations to my students. They enjoy all the materials that you have provided and more importantly their knowledge about these scientific concepts continues to increase. They are now able to name most of the planets and some can even label the planets in order. Most are even able to speak about the planets using descriptors such as size and colors.

The simple machines have helped enhance their understanding of how the world around them works. Today a student asked "what's an axle?" and another asked "how does a pulley work?". Of course their ability to identify and label simple machines has also increased.

Finally, the light table has become a highly requested fixture in our room. The students have increased their social skills such as verbal and material exchanges while playing together at the light table. In addition, they have been asking questions about light such as "how does a prism make a rainbow?".

Without kind and generous people such as yourselves, we teachers could not be nearly as effective as we are. Thank you again for all you have done for my students.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Schultz

  • Literacy for Early Learners

    Funded Jun 9, 2011

I cannot express how thankful I am for your generous donation to my classroom. We received the materials in early summer and there has been an obvious impact on my students' interest in reading and their ability to read. Your donation has helped me to set up a guided reading section that is leveled by reading ability and thematic units. In addition, we now have a segment of time set aside every day strictly for reading. During this time, some students take part in either shared reading, guided reading or independent reading.

The students in my classroom have been identified as being on the autism spectrum. Despite this, they are reading at or above grade level and demonstrating comprehension of what they are reading. It is my firm belief that if you can teach a student to read and comprehend at an early age, this skills will continue through the rest of their life. If one can read and comprehend then they have the ability to teach themselves.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Schultz

  • The Path to Math Success

    Funded Jan 10, 2011

Thank you very much for your generous donation to my classroom. The materials are being used on a daily basis and have greatly impacted the development of my students in many ways. The students have learned many new skills such as counting with one-to-one correspondence, number identification/labeling and concepts such as all/some/none. Some of the students are even starting to add and subtract using the materials. The materials have provided them with many concrete opportunities to learn math skills and now the students are beginning to apply math skills to every day life and are beginning to understand math at a more abstract level. The puzzles have provided many new opportunities to improve problem solving skills, visual-perceptive skills and language skills. Most importantly, your donation continues to make learning fun for my students and has put them on a path of life long learning. ”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Schultz

I have a small class of very young learners. All of my students are on the autism spectrum or present with speech & language delays. Although they are young and have their challenges, they are also very bright and capable of accomplishing so much. They are all very unique but they also have a great deal in common. Many students enjoy looking at books and are even starting to decode words. All of my students enjoy dancing, cause & effect and sensory play. With your help and support, I know that they can reach their potential.
