Classroom Face-Lift
Funded Jul 12, 2019My students are loving "The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane." This hardcover book has beautiful illustrations by Bagram Ibatoulline that my students are enjoying. The new weathered wood bulletin board paper and boarders brightens our classroom and gives it a homey feel.
We have used the washable paint to illustrate our Dot Day "Mark Your Mark" artwork. Our growth mindset project was inspired by Peter Reynolds' book "The Dot".
We also painted underwater scenes to go along with the story "Only One You," and plan to make homemade gifts for family members throughout the year.
When learning to analyze texts, highlighters helped spark the interest of my second graders. They are learning to recognize key words and phrases that help them develop a better understanding of what they read.
I have been astonished on where their imaginations have taken them, and the information they have recently gained all because of your generous donation. We thank you greatly for your kindness.”

Mrs. Freeman
Personalized Pillows
Funded Mar 27, 2018The children in my class love practical life lessons. Once they heard that "Personalized Pillows" was funded, they anticipated delivery of the materials. We practiced threading needles and sewing straight lines while we waited. When the boxes arrived the class exploded with applause and cheers.
Everyone was in awe and commented on which color fabric they couldn't wait to use. The students measured and cut the fabric in the shape of the letter of their first, middle, or last name. They sewed these two pieces together, turned them inside out, stuffed the pillow, and then completely stitched the pillow together.
Hearing comments like, "You are doing so great!" and "I love your color combinations!" was music to my ears. The students even made appreciation heart pillows for our custodial staff! It was a wonderful way to spread kindness throughout our community. The children glowed with accomplishment and pride when they presented their final product. This was my favorite project so far!”

Funded Aug 23, 2017Thanks to your kind and generous donations, our Lady Tigers have the spandex shorts they need to play volleyball games!
As an elementary teacher, I am thrilled to have the opportunity to coach my school's middle school volleyball team this fall. A big challenge as coach was preparing for the season before the girls even set foot on the court. Most of our school population lives in high poverty and have to be cautious of spending. Thanks to Donors Choose, I am able to ask for what my players need to successfully participate on the court.
I fully support our vision at EP Todd, which is: "to develop our student-athletes as young women through sports. We do this by providing excellent coaching and instilling a love for sports in a safe and encouraging environment for all student-athletes. Our girls have matching game uniform shirts; and thanks to the donors of Volleyball: Shorts Needed, they have shorts as well. Most of the girls would not have been able to provide their own game day shorts.
Having a Sports Uniform is a great way to develop team spirit and encourages student athletes to be organized and prepared for Physical Education and Sports.
I appreciate all donations from Dick's Sporting Goods so that our girls meet the standards of matching uniforms and are game ready!”

Funded Dec 31, 2016The children in class love practical life lessons. Once they heard that "Culture Through the Arts" was funded, their anticipation of the delivery of materials grew with each passing day. We studied the history of basket weaving and talked about sewing to pass the time. The class exploded with applause and cheers once the boxes arrived to class.
Opening the boxes was a ceremonial event. Everyone was in awe and commented on which yarn color they couldn't wait to use. The storage bins were most helpful keeping the yarn, sewing needles, and basket cords organized. The children could easily access the materials on their own and with ease. After a careful demonstration, they were itching to get started. The children quickly got the hang of "over two then through" and began their creative journey with weaving.
Hearing comments like, "You are doing so great!" and "I love your color combinations!" was music to my ears. Parents expressed how impressed they were that their 6 year old brought home buttons sewn to fabric, especially when it is a skill they have not yet acquired. The children glowed with accomplishment and pride when they presented their final products.
Culture Through the Arts has been a huge success! Thank you for making this experience for my children possible. Your donation is truly appreciated by all!”

Volleyball-Safty First

Thanks to your kind and generous donations, our Lady Tigers have the knee pads they need to play volleyball without worrying about knee injuries.

Most of the girls would not have been able to play safely if it had not been for others contributing to our project.
Having a Sports Uniform is a great way to develop team spirit and encourages student athletes to be organized and prepared for Physical Education and Sports. This includes safety equipment as well.
I appreciate all donations from Dick's Sporting Goods, Raymond James Financial Service, and Angie and Danny Cannon our girls are able to play with knee protection!”

Funded May 7, 2015My students have diligently researched about the Milky Way Galaxy. The books you have purchased gave the students resources to learn information about our solar system. We have discovered the distance between planets, calculated the scale of which we could display the the inflatable planets both inside and outside the classroom. The rotating globe of earth is just beautiful! Teachers, administrates, and other students have stopped by our classroom to admire its beauty. They have enjoyed learning about the earth's rotation, the relationship between earth's rotation and sunlight, as well as learning the geography of earth.
When my students first saw the materials, they were memorized. That did not last long, because then they were chopping at the bit to get their hands on the books and inflatable planets. They have rather enjoyed every aspect of this project.
We will next dive into architecture. We will study the history of architecture, various architects, and basic geometry involved in building structures. In teams of four, my students will design and build a gingerbread house for the holidays.
I have been astonished on where their imaginations have taken them, and the information they have recently gained all because of your generous donation. We thank you greatly for your kindness.”
