  • Let All the Ears Hear

    Funded Nov 8, 2023

Your generous donation has assisted my classroom in being able to provide my students the opportunity to listen to information without disturbing other students. Our new state test allows text to speech for all students, so these headphones are essential for testing. Your help purchasing a class set has allowed me to make sure my students are prepared to use this tool during testing.

It has eased a frustration in my classroom for students and myself. We no longer have to hunt down headphones for students to utilize and we can seamlessly continue with the learning without those interruptions.

More so, being able to provide text to speech helps eliminate a barrier to science instruction. I want to make sure my students understand science and if they struggle with reading I do not want that to hinder their growth in science, so text to speech technology allows me to do that with these headphones.”

  • One Hot Phenomena

    Funded Jul 22, 2023

My 6th grade students have been investigating how things change temperature. With these blocks, they have been able to create their own investigations to gather evidence on things that impact temperature change. The students are in the process of learning how different materials impact thermal energy transfer. Their initial investigations gave them some great opportunities to ask questions and begin to wonder.

They were so excited about the use of the melting blocks and even more intrigued by the results they gathered. The difference in melting of ice on each block was quite surprising for all of the students and their brains immediately became inquisitive.

In the next steps of our unit, students will take what they have learned from their investigations and will begin to identify how materials impact heat transfer differently. They will use their information to design a cup that keeps liquids from changing temperature very much. This will be an fun project for my students. Thank you for making it possible.”

  • Power Up for Student Learning

    Funded Jul 29, 2020

Your gift to help purchase the charging stations has been tremendous for my classroom this year. In light of all the craziness, my students are using technology more than ever before. We are currently meeting face to face, with some students virtual. Some students get moved to quarantine and come back, so with all the transitioning and back and forth it is important to make sure that my students are not missing out and that they are getting the same access at home as at school. This is what makes the charging stations so important. My in classroom students utilize their Chromebook just about everyday using our online platform. The students Chromebooks do not stay charged all day which becomes an issue if all of our work is based on our online platform. The charging stations have been a lifesaver, and my students use them daily to keep their Chromebooks charged.

With charged Chromebooks, my students are participating in online discussions, completing labs with their fellow virtual students, participating in virtual guest speaker meetings and acquiring the knowledge they need through online textbooks and resources to help them meet the education standards for the year. We are so thankful for you generous donation.”

  • Rooting Students in Science and Engineering Through STEM Challenges

    Funded Oct 18, 2016

We are so very thankful for your generous donation to allow us to get these engineering activities in our classroom. We were able to utilize these resources to reinforce the engineering and design process as we are implementing the New Arkansas State Science Standards with lots of emphasis on engineering and designing. We first utilized the materials during an engineering challenge day and the students were so excited to build the robot hand and to create an earthquake safe building. They were quite successful with the robot hand, but there was some struggle with the earthquake safe building. They are excited to work on it more!

When we got the materials, the students were very excited to have an opportunity to utilize them. I get asked each week if we will be able to use them again. We will, but we don't get them out every week. I am glad they enjoy these resources because it allows them to build important skills in science.

We will be starting a unit on earth systems and human interaction soon. The students will be extremely excited to work on the water filter challenge as we talk about how we impact the Earth's water supply. Creating water filters will be an excellent addition to the unit. Thank you so much for this opportunity!”

  • Observations by the Numbers

    Funded Aug 23, 2015

Your generosity has been very rewarding for our classroom. My students are extremely excited each time we use our supplies. We have been able to utilize the beakers several times to measure amounts of water in relation to porosity as well as erosion in our Earth Science section. The timers allowed us to test travel time of the two wheel balloon cars the students designed and built. The gram weights gave students a opportunity to measure the mass of various amounts of water as they learned about conversions.

The students were so excited to open the boxes of materials when they came in the mail. They couldn't believe that the materials had been bought just for us. They were excited to use them immediately, so we made observations of objects in our classroom.

We will be using these materials many times throughout the remainder of the year and for years to come. We will be utilizing the beakers and cylinders in our current project as we analyze the water filters we are designing and engineering. Your generosity will not only help this group of students be successful, but students for years to come.”

  • Building 21st Century Scientists

    Funded Oct 12, 2015

My students have been so excited about the tablet purchased for our classroom. They have been able to conduct research about space, about the earth systems as well as document research by photographing results and outcomes of their investigations. I have also been able to use this technology to accommodate students with various needs such as those who may need help writing or need the ability to record answers verbally rather than in writing.

Each time we begin research, my students immediately ask to use our classroom tablet. They love that the tablet has a keyboard making it easier to conduct research on, but also useful for photos and videos. We have not yet had an opportunity to create videos but I know my students will be extremely excited when we are able to create a video.

Most all of my students enjoy using the technology in my classroom. It is extremely helpful for my students to have access to resources and information and experiences beyond my classroom walls.”

  • I'm an Author of a Non-Fiction Text

    Funded Oct 12, 2015

Your support for my project "I'm An Author of a Non-Fiction Text" has been very valuable for my students. My students are able to create resources for current and future use as we learn science. Their notebooks have come in quite handy as they refer back to steps of the scientific method, details on how to analyze data, and vocabulary refreshers. My students will be able to take this resource with them beyond my 5th grade classroom which makes it even more valuable.

My students were extremely excited to see your generosity and support of our project through the purchase of supplies for our project. They were excited about the variety of paper, supply of glue sticks and liquid glue. They really are enjoying the creation of their non-fiction book and making sure they are being good authors and editors and keeping up with their table of contents and entries.

Students will continue to build their books in the second half of the school year creating vocabulary foldable so and resources to help them in our upcoming physical and life science units. Some who have filled their first book will begin volume two of their non-fiction book.”

  • Break, Move, Drop - Understanding Forces that Shape Earth

    Funded Oct 12, 2015

The supplies you provided to help my students learn about our changing Earth's priceless. The students were so excited to receive all the boxes. Anticipation built as I let students think about what could be in the boxes. One box they thought was a television! When my students saw the eggs, sand and chalk, they could not wait to use it in class.

My students were able to investigate weathering and erosion hands-on which is essential for my classes because they are highly kinesthetic. We utilized the chalk as a rock traveling down the river (mason jar with water). They were able to see how just how water can break rock weathering it by breaking little pieces off. The Easter eggs are being used to demonstrate weathering by ice, by students filling them with water then freezing them.

We've been able to utilize the large post it pads for students to share and teach each other about earth's systems.

Be "seeing" what each of these steps represent, students are beginning to make the connections. By investigating each system with their hands, students are creating experiences they may not have had before. It truly takes a village to assist students in learning about science. Thank you so much for your support of my project.”

  • Inspiring Future Biologists

    Funded Oct 9, 2014

Thank you so much for supporting my project. My students were extremely excited to have live organisms in the classroom to work with as we investigated ecosystems. They enjoyed touching the organisms as we built the closed ecosystems and observed the organisms in both the open and closed ecosystems.

We utilized the live organisms and materials to build closed ecosystems and one whole class open ecosystem. Students created closed ecosystems and observed at least weekly changes in their groups ecosystem. After about six weeks we concluded the project with a review of what we learned through our observations, we connected the information we learned about cycles in an ecosystem and compared the closed systems to our open system. Students were able to take home and continue to observe their closed ecosystems. Our open ecosystem is still functioning in the classroom with one living guppy.

By having live organisms this project really brought the learning to life for my students. This allowed them to make connections to content and information discussed and discovered in class. Without this project students would not have had the hands on learning opportunity. They would not have seen first hand the evidence of the cycles in our ecosystem or the comparison of an open and closed system.”

    Mrs. Freeman
