Young Musicians

Funded Oct 29, 2010

I wish to take this opportunity to thank you for your generosity. Our school has not previously owned any instruments, and the excitement and enthusiasm with which we accept these violins cannot be understated. Thanks to you, my kindergarten violin class is already well underway. Twice weekly my students eagerly anticipate the group violin lesson, where they receive careful and individual music instruction. I am proud to inform you that my students are making great progress in the following areas: Learning to properly handle and care for the instruments. Learning to unlock and lock the violin case. Learning to remove the bow from the case and to loosen and tighten the bow hairs. Learning to apply rosin to the bow hairs. Learning to hold the bow in the proper position. Learning to sit in "Rest Position" with both the bow and the violin. Learning to place the violin in "Playing Position." Learning to differentiate between playing on the "Open E String" and playing on the "Open A String." Learning to differentiate between a "Down Bow Stroke" and an "Up Bow Stroke." I consider myself fortunate to bring the gift of music to my bright young students and I look forward to watching their talent and appreciation for music develop. I encourage you to continue to make a difference in children's lives. It's because of you that my children can now enjoy learning how to play the violin. On behalf of my school and my students, I extend our sincere gratitude for your most generous gift. ”

With gratitude,

Mrs. Franco
