Teachers Helping Teachers!
Funded Aug 5, 2020Your generous donation has created a remote whirlwind of activity and excitement and a lot of relief for me as a teacher. Our new world of Covid-19 has affected our schools tremendously. We are teaching remotely to keep everyone safe. This means I needed to convert many lessons to be remote friendly. I have purchased several ready made lessons from Teachers-pay-teachers. This has saved me hours of creating or converting lessons. I love that everything is already teacher tested since all are made by teachers who understand what is needed.
My technology skills are increasing as I learn to use new gadgets and software. Some I learned as I purchased a unit because I needed to know how to run the program. My students were excited to use the new lessons. This has brought variety and differentiation into the remote classroom. My students loved drag and drop activity in States of Matter. they felt able to DO something rather than just read and answer. They were able to build a molecule and name parts of an atom. While I have not use it yet, I purchased an Ecosystem unit filled with more interactive items related to food webs and predator-prey and plant parts along with photosynthesis.
This wonderful gift has streamlined my remote classroom activities. My students were thrilled to see how generous strangers can be when they see excitement and passion for interesting projects. I always tell them that dreams can come true if they put some effort into reaching them. THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!!”

Digital Scaling and Weight Lifting
Funded Mar 6, 2020Your generous donation has created a whirlwind of activity and excitement in My classroom. My students were excited to receive the digital scales. During our chemistry unit students build molecules with their kits and rearrange atoms into a new substance. This creation provides great visuals for understanding conservation of matter where the number of atoms at the start equals the number at the end. We used the scales to mass before and after our experiments to determine if mass was gained or lost. I appreciate that my students are able to have a digital scale for every 2 students. In the past I had 2 for the whole class and students got restless waiting their turn at the scales. This wonderful gift has streamlined my classroom activities.

Bowling Mash Up!
Funded Mar 6, 2020Your generous donation has created a whirlwind of activity and excitement in my classroom. The students work at science stations and are often listening to different topics .The headset splitters allows several students to listen to the same thing at the same time, This helps to reduce sound in the classroom since different stations are doing different work.
When students finish classwork early, they ask to use the headsets to study using online apps that allow me to upload our vocabulary into games which makes learning fun. Sometimes they work with partners and the audio splitters help others to listen to the same sounds. Recently they worked on a Winter Olympics theme where tiny robots simulated ice skaters. Each group needed to choose music. There were 6 groups of 4 students testing out different songs and my room was very quiet. The groups did not disturb each other and no one kept making the music louder so they could hear over the others.
The bowling ball pins will be used with the ozobots as the students will code their robots to follow lines which end and then hope the ozobot continues until getting a strike. Adding up scores will also be good math practice.
I am moved by such generosity and the impact on my students. They can't believe that someone who does not know us has sent us these wonderful gifts. We talk about helping others and that they can do it to, maybe not with money donations but by helping others in different ways. You have inspired my class in many ways and expect a few might explore engineering and science in a future career. Thank you again.”

Rockin' Robots
Funded Dec 14, 2019Your generous donation has created a whirlwind of activity and excitement in my classroom. The students are using the Ozobots to learn coding using colors. They are fascinated by how easily they can control the robots actions just by changing color patterns. We downloaded the Ozoblockly app to my iPad and now they can drag different directions then upload to the robot. They are having so much fun and do not realize that they are learning to code. The current project is a winter Olympics scenario. The students are programming the robots to do figure skating (follow letter patterns), curling (push an object onto a target) and ice hockey. We are contemplating building a toboggan/luge type of maze.

Science Technology
Funded Jan 3, 2020Your generous donation has created a whirlwind of activity and excitement in my classroom. The students are using the Asus Chromebook to learn about science concepts like how earthquakes happen. The splitters for the headphones help lower distractions by helping 2 students per chromebook block out other sounds while listening to important concepts. It also keeps the area quiet so as not to disturb students doing other work.
When students finish classwork early, they ask to use the Chromebook to study using online apps that allow me to upload our vocabulary into games which makes learning fun. Our class embraces the use of Google classrooms and this tool enables the students to easily access their assignments and complete them in a timely manner. They are using webcams with a stop action animation app to animate science concepts like heat transfer or cloud formation. True understanding comes when they create a video of their notes.

FIRST Lego Team City Shapers
Funded May 17, 2019Your generous donation has created a whirlwind of activity and excitement with my Lego team. They are so excited to be able go to a competition. They worked extra hard on building their robot and planning strategies to achieve as many missions as possible. The team is creating a research project related to the cities of the future, while not completed at this date they are thinking about recycling issues in our school district. Regardless of the outcome at the meet, my students learned more about their world and environmental impact. They have seen that new ideas can help improve our world.
