  • Origins Seniors Take LA

    Funded Feb 1, 2018

Your donations have made such a difference in the expenses we have for this trip. I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I could not verbalize the impact your contribution has made on these students' lives.

I will take many photos for you to see the memories you helped create.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. BW

  • Origins Elite Squad Does Broadway

    Funded Nov 8, 2016

I cannot describe in words the gratitude these students felt for your donation. Dance has always been a passion of mine, and I have taken many classes at Broadway Dance Center. However, the classes there are pretty expensive.

To be able to afford them this opportunity and gather in a space where we could share our love for dance was unspeakably wonderful. A lot of these students wear rough expressions on their faces--no doubt a reflection of the obstacles they have to overcome on a daily basis. That changed so completely in that room.

Remember this when you look at the pictures of them. They do not look like that all the time. That is pure joy they are showing. Because of you.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. BW

  • FYR-For Your Reference

    Funded Sep 4, 2016

The donations you made to fund this project and purchase this laminating machine, have not only made a world of difference in my classroom, but in the entire school. Student art work, projects, and important ideals have been preserved and put on display for everyone to appreciate.

Additionally, students benefited so much from having rubrics posted to their desks as a reference. They were able to refer back to the rubric when they forgot a detail. This served as a beautiful alternate from handing out rubrics that they would either lose or forget at home. Additionally these rubrics, if drawn on, could be cleaned. They were difficult to destroy. Also, beyond helping students, we saved on printing so many worksheets thus helping the environment.

Yet, these are just small factors that are really a part of a larger and extremely beautiful message. I can't thank you enough for your contribution. It has really gone a long way towards helping our students succeed.

    Thank you.

    Sincerely,

    Maria Eve Boletsis”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. BW

Imagine an English classroom filled with native English speakers. The class is reading Shakespeare--Othello for example. The text, is difficult to navigate for a native English speaker. Imagine attempting to read Shakespearean English as an ESL student. Throughout the semester last year, the use of diagrams, images and checklists allowed my students to access the content being taught in the classroom. Unfortunately, students often lose or damage their materials. Upon visiting a friend's classroom, I discovered that she had laminated diagrams and self assessment checklists held together by binder clips and strapped to the students' desks with jumbo rubber bands. They had been used and preserved throughout the semester serving as an asset to not only her ESL students who used them to access the content, but also to her general education students who may have fallen behind.
