  • Delightful Decodables!

    Funded Mar 30, 2023

I am writing to extend my heartfelt gratitude for your generous support in funding our recent DonorsChoose project for decodable books. Your contribution has made a tremendous difference in our kindergarten classroom, providing our young learners with essential resources that are already having a significant impact on their reading journey.

The decodable books you funded are invaluable tools in our literacy program. These books are specifically designed to support early readers by using simple, phonetically consistent text that helps students decode words independently. This structured approach to reading instruction is crucial for developing foundational reading skills, building confidence, and fostering a love for reading.

Your generosity has not only provided us with these wonderful books but has also created an environment that promotes a love for reading and learning. The skills our students are developing now will serve as a strong foundation for their future academic success. Your investment in our classroom has made a lasting impact, and we are deeply grateful for your”

  • Classroom Essentials

    Funded Aug 2, 2023

I am writing to express my deepest gratitude for your incredible generosity in funding our recent DonorsChoose project. Your support has provided our kindergarten classroom with a wealth of resources that made a significant impact on our students' learning experiences and personal growth.

One of the key additions to our classroom is the new printer. This invaluable tool allows me to efficiently prepare a variety of activities and instructional materials. This not only enhances our daily lessons but also ensures that each student has access to personalized materials that cater to their individual learning needs.

The new toys and dress-up items have transformed our daily play-times. These items are much more than just playthings; they are essential tools that help our students develop crucial social-emotional skills. Through imaginative play and collaborative activities, our students are learning to share, communicate, and work together. The impact of these toys on our students' social skills and communication is truly remarkable!

The general classroom supplies you have provided are equally appreciated. Art and creation are integral parts of Kindergarten, and having a well-stocked supply of materials allows our students to explore their creativity freely.

Your generosity has created a more enriching and supportive learning environment for our kindergarteners. The joy and excitement I see on their faces each day as they engage with these new resources are priceless. Your contribution has made a tangible difference in our classroom, and we are immensely grateful. The impact of your generosity will be felt for years to come, as our students continue to grow, learn, and thrive.”

  • Flex Seating, and a Love of Reading!

    Funded Mar 6, 2023

Wow! I am so grateful and appreciative that this project was funded. You donated to supply my kindergarten classroom with flexible seating options. These new seating options, bean bag chairs and flexi-seats, are BELOVED by my students; everyone eagerly waits their turn to sit in our reading area.

Kindergarten is a time of exponential growth for our students. Most of our Kinders first experience within a school setting is our classroom, and many of our students come to Kindergarten with very little exposure to the English language, let alone foundations in early literacy. One of the most amazing things to witness as a Kindergarten teacher is students' confidence and excitement soar as they become increasingly independent readers.

It is my goal to keep our students love of reading burning bright, and one of the ways I try to do that is through providing them with opportunities to explore reading on their own. The flexible seating your donations funded, helped create a space where students are invited to explore and engaging in reading comfortably and excitedly!”

A variety of classroom seating options provides all my kiddos with a more inclusive and engaging learning environment, wherein each child is able to take ownership over their academic outcomes and maximize their learning potential! Each seating option has been chosen with specific students, learning styles, and specific academic blocks in mind! The yellow stools will be used for both small group instruction and collaboration. Small group instruction is a vital block in our day, as it the time when I am able to meet with 6-8 students and provide differentiated instruction, specifically tailored to each student's specific learning goals for a given objective. Stools are able to be tucked neatly under my table when not in use, and moved easily to different locations so students can continue to collaborate while I work with other groups. School can be stressful for our kiddos; we maintain high academic expectations, a long school day, and as first graders they are developing new emotional and social skills, gaining independence, and taking in important information about the world, every second! Furthermore, a lot of my kids come to school each day with life stressors from home that create added challenges to their school day. As a mechanism to help students learn to self-regulate and connect with their emotions, I have a "cool-down" corner, where students can go and choose to take deep breaths, hug a social-emotional character, use a sand timer, or fill out a reflection. The black lounger will be hugely beneficial for this area. Group work is important as it helps my students learn teamwork, important social, as well as coping skills, and allows them to take on leadership roles, as well as build stronger more authentic connections to curriculum; the bean bag chairs will be a great choice for student collaboration!
