The resources I am requesting will assist my students by giving them the ability to complete their assignments and projects within the classroom. These scholars need pencils and notebooks for production and note taking purposes. To build their literacy and process their thinking, my students are producing their own writing and taking notes. They need these materials to write out their plans and brainstorm in writing. We, as a class, are beginning to create graphic organizers to process our thoughts and write multiple essays. This is in alignment with ELA-LITERACY.W.5.1-3.
We use our whiteboards throughout the day over multiple subjects. Our school provided whiteboards and dry erase markers for our students at the beginning of the year. These markers are now unusable. My students use the whiteboards and markers to practice their multiplication and show their work. Without more markers, my students are required to use paper and pencil. Due to a lack of pencils, my students are starting to run out of resources. This is in alignment with Math-5.OA.A. My students need to be able to write and interpret numerical expressions. Without these writing utensils, my students will be at a loss to be able to meet the standards by the end of the year.
The headphones will assist with my students speaking and listening. It gives them the ability to listen to their state mandated computer programs that helped to fill the gaps that I cannot during my instruction. Currently, my students are playing their lessons out loud, which is a distraction to the other students. The chart paper and markers that I am requesting will assist with my student projects. It will give them the opportunity to generate evidence of their learning in a multitude of ways. This is in alignment with Speaking and Listening SL.5.1-6.
