Let's All Gather on the Rug
Funded Aug 14, 2023Thank you for your generous donation to my Donors Choose Project. Your kindness has allowed me to purchase a large, beautiful classroom rug. The rug is a focal point in an elementary school classroom. Usually located at the front of the room, it is a place for students to go so that they do not need to stay seated at their desk throughout the day. This rug is a gathering place for my students throughout the day. We have Morning Meetings, direction instruction and independent work time on the rug. Thank you again for your generosity.”

Read All About It!
Funded Oct 31, 2022Thank you very much for your generous donation to my project. Your kindness allowed me to purchase two small notebooks for each of my 23 students. We use these notebooks several times a week to practice our writing skills. When students enter the class, they are greeted with a message from me. This message, written in friendly letter form, is projected on the white board. I choose a topic for the letter and ask students to respond to my question. These letters give us an opportunity to learn more about each other while practicing grammar, vocabulary, spelling and syntax. Thank you again for your donation to this worthwhile experience.”

Funded Oct 17, 2022Thank you for the generous donation to my Donors Choose Project. Your kindness allowed me to purchase two small notebooks for each of my students. We use these notebooks several times a week. When the students enter the classroom in the morning, they are greeted with a letter that I have written to them. I choose a topic, use it to relate to me and then ask them to respond. They practice writing a friendly letter, expressing their ideas while using correct spelling, grammar and sentence structure. This writing activity also promotes community building by allowing us to share information about ourselves.”

Three times a week, my students read and respond to a letter from me. They write a letter to me answering a question that I posed. A Strong Sense Of Number Sense
Funded Sep 7, 2022Thank you so much for your generous donation to my project. Your kindness has made a great impact on the education of the young learners in my class. With your donation, I was able to receive several resources to use in my classroom.
One of the resources that I purchased has several ideas to promote number sense. This is a necessary skill in order to be successful in math. Students are given problems or do activities that encourage them to be flexible in their thinking. They are able to work on problem or practice math skills while communicating, collaborating and discussing math with their classmates.
Each day we spend a portion of our math block doing some activity from these resources. My students love the activities and look forward to them.”

Mrs. N.

This classroom project was brought to life by Panda Cares and 2 other donors. Please Take Your Seats
Funded Sep 18, 2021Thank you for your generous donation to my project. Your funds allowed my class to have rug squares. Flexible seating has become a challenge during the past 2 years. We are not allowed to use our classroom rug. This large 9x12 rug, was a place for students to gather for Morning Meeting or instruction. Our small, individual rugs allow us to gather in large and small groups while adhering to distancing rules. My students can meet in a variety of places throughout the room. The rugs are kept in a pile in the front of the room. One student is in charge of distributing and collecting them from her classmates. Thank you again.”

Resources, Resources, Resources!
Funded Aug 9, 2021Thank you so much for your generous donation to my project. I was able to get gift certificates from Teachers Pay Teachers. This website houses an endless number of materials to use both virtually and in person. The materials are created by teachers who have knowledge of the Common Core and how students learn They are age appropriate and in many cases fun. My students have loved the theme related materials as well as the ones that allow them to use creativity. It is a great feeling to know that I can purchase material for my class without having to worry about the costs.”
