Building A Foundation for Success.

Words can not express how grateful my student's and I are for your donation towards our project. When I first found Donorschoose.org, I sat and thought about what my students needed the most. It came down to the bare essentials. Although my students are in High School it is often difficult to obtain the supplies needed and utilized to succeed.

I made the student's aware of this program in which people from all over donate towards the needs of students. I explained to them how I believed that having a notebook with paper and dividers would keep them organized. Most of them did not believe me when I said that each of them would be receiving their very own binder. This is attributed towards the false promises that many of them have faced in their lives prior. Boy were they shocked when the delivery arrived.

I remember the day the order arrived and how excited I was to see the student's reactions. It was as if they were in disbelief. They could not believe that people that had never met them before would donate money towards funding a project for them. They had permanent smiles on their faces and we spent some time setting up the binders. Some students plainly wrote their names on construction paper and slipped it into the front pocket to identify it as their own. Other students sketched pictures, doodled and or added color, each binder a little different than the next.

In life we take these small happy moments and realize how much they truly mean. I wish I could provide everything for my students. They are amazing, bright, charismatic, funny, intelligent, quirky, lively, sassy, opinionated, humble, determined, fantastic students. They make my job my passion, for a teacher wears so many hats its often quiet hard to determine what my job description really entails.

From our classroom we Thank you so very much for your donation. The students are still utilizing the binders. They are much more organized and papers aren't missing as frequently. The students have taken to looking back in their notes because their notes are actually there. :) Not only does this alleviate headaches on both our parts but it helps prepare the students for college. Words still can't explain how much this means to us. THANK YOU!”
