Sewing Machines Needed for Art School Drama Department!
Funded Dec 3, 2024Thank you so much for your generous donations to get our costume shop up and running. I know you have donated long ago now, but I want to wait so I can send you some production photos of the first costumes we made with the sewing machines and thread you helped purchase for us! Dark of the Moon was a smashing success and so much of our positive reviews were due to the incredible work our students put into making their costumes!
Over the course of the rehearsal process for this show, students learned not only how to hand sew, but how to use a sewing machine. Obviously this is a great skill to have as we continue to shape well rounded theatrical artists here at Brooklyn High School of the Arts, but a wonderful skill to have as a person. Since the show has closed, I have had many students some to me to tell me that they fixed a button on their dads shirt, and even their own ripped pants after learning how to sew.
Starting to build out our scene shop has been so incredibly rewarding and I am so excited for many more students to learn this invaluable skill in their theatre classes for many years to come.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Fausak
This classroom project was brought to life by The DonorsChoose Community and 11 other donors.Costumes for BHSA's Spring Play
Funded Mar 13, 2024Midnight reunion went off without a hitch thanks to your generous donations. The students looked fabulous in their costumes and felt comfortable during the entire act they were wearing their sweat set.
Please enjoy some production photos of the kids in their costumes. The BHSA Drama Department is already thinking about how we can reuse these costume pieces for a show next year. Thank you again. Public school theater relies heavily on the kindness of others who believe in the mission to educate students in the arts. We couldn't have done this without you.”
