There is a large variety of students who participate in the Makerspace club. Even though Makerspace is a high-school club, there is an outreach program in which club members reach out to students in middle and elementary school to help the younger students spark an interest in the STEM fields through the use of robotics. Club membership is open to anyone in grades 9 through 12. The Makerspace club is part of FAU High School. FAU High School is a lab school associated with Florida Atlantic University. At FAU High, students spend 9th grade in a traditional high-school environment, and then spend the rest of their high school careers at FAU taking university courses as part of FAU's dual enrollment program. Since students are taking university courses, they tend to have a lot of time in between classes. During this time they come in and work on robotics at the Makerspace club.
