  • Help Teens Explore HEALTHY Food!

    Funded Sep 15, 2014

Thank you all for taking the time and money to donate to my classroom project "Help Teens Explore HEALTHY Food!" Throughout the semester the students were able to try several new things outside of their usual diet of chips and sodas. The small cups were put to use when we had several days of creating healthy green smoothies with fruits and spinach. Many students told me that they have been trying to incorporate these more into their family's diet. The plates came in handy at Thanksgiving when they learned to make cranberry sauce from scratch, along with a citrus carrot salad. Many of the students had never heard of cranberry sauce before, because it is not a dish that is part of their culture, so it was a great learning experience for everyone.

The materials purchased with your generous donations have really helped my students on their way towards becoming healthier and more well-rounded people.

We thank you all for your continued support!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Fassler

  • Finding Funds for Fashion

    Funded Sep 15, 2014

Thank you so much to everyone for their generous donations to my classroom project "Finding Funds for Fashion". We have been able to put the purchased items to great use already this year.

Getting to know the sewing tools and equipment available was an important first step in class. Having the tools and sewing machine parts posters on the walls is a great resource for the students as they continue acquiring vocabulary related to fashion. We've had guest speakers come who were impressed by the knowledge that the students have gained in such a short time. The students sewed their own pincushion rings by hand as a project learned from one of the workbooks and are also constantly using the Fabric File and fabric dictionaries as reference tools when describing their designs used in creating fashion design portfolios.

We are very grateful for your continued support and are looking forward to making many more creations.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Fassler

  • Going Places with Dr. Seuss!

    Funded Aug 27, 2013

Thank you all for your taking the time and money to donate to my classroom project "Going Places with Dr. Seuss!" Thank you so much to everyone for their generous donations. We have been able to put the purchased items to great use throughout the school year.

The class was very excited when I first added the motivational posters to our classroom walls, and they continue to be a source of pleasantness in the room. The students have really enjoyed listening to the CDs that came with some of the Dr. Seuss books. They never seem to tire of hearing them, especially during their independent free time.

The great thing about these materials is that I will be able to use them for many years to come and will be able to help many more students become excited about reading in the future!

We thank you all for your continued support!”

  • Growing 1st Grade Superstar Writers

    Funded Oct 3, 2012

Thank you so much to everyone for their generous donations. We have been able to put the purchased items to great use throughout the school year.

The students really enjoy being able to write in their journals daily. They have the opportunity to express themselves with writing and pictures, and using the Word Spacers really helps keep their writing legible. When they run out of ideas, they can turn to the box of Writing Prompts for help.

Our classroom parents have really enjoyed seeing the students' best published writing pieces laminated so that they can hold on the memories of what their first grader created.

We thank you all for your continued support!”

  • Enhancing Learning through Technology and Fun

    Funded Jan 26, 2012

Thank you all for taking the time and money to donate to my classroom project "Enhancing Learning through Technology and Fun". The Leapster2 Handhelds have made a great addition to our classroom learning centers. They are a great motivator towards helping the students complete their class work, so they can use their free time to "play" with the Leapsters. The Star Wars Jedi math is especially popular, while the Mr. Pencil Draw and Write game allows the students' creativity to shine. The students really are enjoying learning through technology and fun!”

  • Creating 1st Grade Super Scientists!

    Funded Jan 31, 2012

Thank you all for taking the time and money to donate to my classroom project "Creating 1st Grade Super Scientists!" The students have really enjoyed reading the life cycle books to learn about the different stages of animal lives, and the plastic models are a great tool to use along with the books. Use of the digital microscope has allowed them to look at the world in new and exciting ways. The Weekly Reader magazines and the Science Journals have become a great connection between school and home, so that the students can take what they've learned in class and share it with their friends and family. The students really are enjoying their journey towards becoming "Super Scientists"!”

  • From Silent Scholars to Awesome Orators

    Funded Mar 16, 2012

Thank you all for your taking the time and money to donate to my classroom project "From Silent Scholars to Awesome Orators". The students have really enjoyed using the sound phones to hear themselves read their leveled books during independent reading time. They also think it's a lot of fun to use the microphone while presenting oral projects in front of the class. Being able to use the digital camera has allowed the students to see themselves accomplishing new things and has allowed many of them to slowly build up their confidence. The great thing about these materials is that I will be able to use them for many years to come and will be able to help many more students become "Awesome Orators" in the future! Thank you!!”
