  • Simple Machines

    Funded Jan 23, 2023

    Thank you for giving my students the opportunity to collaboratively design and create simple machines. Students were able to develop a plan for the simple machines. It was a great opportunity for them to view how machines work and how they can make a current machine better. Some students wanted to create a machine they see a need for. They created cranes, robots, elevators to name a few. Once they designed their simple machine they labeled the parts and their function. They built and tested their machines, making a few changes. They presented their machines to the class and students rated its effectiveness and engaged in an oral class discussion. Thank you!”

  • Class Headphones

    Thank you for the class set of headphones. The headphones have made a great impact in my students learning and participation. They are able to hear each other without any distractions and they are able to stay engaged in the lesson. The headphones have diminished the background noise they were hearing in the beginning of the year and the students have now been able to stay focused. Students were so excited when they received the new technology and were even happier when they were able to hear their classmates and stay engaged. Thank you.”

  • Math Matters

    Your generosity has helped changed the way students engage in math lessons through distance learning. Distance learning has been a challenge, but thanks to you; students have been given a hands-on learning opportunity that has deepened their number concepts, understanding of place value, and money. The base ten blocks have helped with number sense and place value. In one learning engagement students where teaching others how to solve a problem. They were able to explain and model their problem, and explain why they had to regroup.

    Students were so excited when I gave them the great news, their parents were very grateful as well as they have seen the difference it has made in their child's understanding with math concepts.

    We plan to continue using these resources and we will soon be reading the books and they will begin to learn about the importance of saving money.”

I would like to make a kit with basic learning supplies that my students need during distance learning. These kits will support my student's learning as they apply new concepts from home. The learning supplies will increase my students level of participation, engagement, and achievement. My students will be able to use the journals to write their ideas, reflect on their learning, and practice their writing. The dry-erase whiteboards will allow them to show their thinking and learning. Crayons will be a great way for them to show their creative side as they tell stories through pictures. Having a highlighter will help my students identify important text and help them access important concepts they are learning. Since my students will be working from home they will benefit from having a pencil sharpener so that they can always have a sharpened pencil.

About my class
