Breaking The Curse of Willie Lynch: Slave Psychology
Funded Mar 10, 2016My AP class will be reading this book to not only have a deeper understanding of the effects of slavery on our communities today but also to become aware of the solutions and the healing that can be achieved through this understanding. My students are always thirsty for knowledge and learning more about their heritage and history. They are avid learners who will definitely make a difference in the world we live in.
Students get to take these books home with them. We usually read outside of class and then have discussions and debates in class that revolve around the themes and implicit and explicit arguments that are presented in the books.
Thank you so much for providing us the opportunity to read this book!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Faraj
This classroom project was brought to life by #BestSchoolDay and one other donor.Classroom Supplies Needed!
Funded Jan 7, 2016My students and I really appreciate your donation to our classroom. As an English teacher, I tend to go through so much paper in a school year because students are constantly reading and writing. Thanks to your support, this year I have been able to provide students with all the supplies they need to be successful in my classroom!
The posters that were purchased for my class have been extremely helpful in adding to the print rich environment that I wanted to surround my students with and to help support their learning. The sheet protectors and dividers are helping students keep their binders neat and organized.
The students are truly grateful for the supplies they have been given and I am truly blessed to have wonderful donors supporting the high standards I set within my classroom! So thank you so much for making this all possible!”

Basic Classroom Supplies Needed!
Funded Oct 27, 2015Students are using the supplies on a daily basis. They are required to keep a portfolio of their work and progress and that's where the binders and dividers come in handy! Their work is organized and neat because they have a place to put it all!
My students were so excited when they saw the boxes of supplies brought to my class. They couldn't believe that Chevron had funded the project and that they were able to use the supplies every day. They take pride in their work and now they have somewhere to put it all!
Additionally, we are able to use the chart paper stand and the markers to work on projects that involve student teamwork. They were able to create charts of the setting of the novel we are reading and display their work proudly outside the classroom. Students (as well as myself) even created anchor charts for our continued use in the classroom. These supplies were sorely needed and so we thank so much from the bottom of our hearts!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Faraj
