  • Teamwork and Tunes

    Funded Nov 3, 2018

My students were able to put the materials from this project to immediate use. We have been using the bluetooth portable speaker for our warm-ups, our speed and agility drills, and even our games. It has brought up everyone's motivation and has begun to increase student endurance because students are enjoying the music so much. The soccer balls have been ideal for our novice athletes as we are teaching both skills, ball control, and soccer. We use the balls for other team collaboration games as well. Thank you for helping my students develop healthy lifestyles through physical activity”

  • 21st Century Designing and Printing

    Funded Oct 31, 2018

Our students were elated when the 3D printer and 3D Printing Pen were pulled out of the boxes because they knew that they were about to experience math, science, and technology in a whole new way. They are ready to take on innovation and collaboration as they problem solve while thinking outside the box. This cutting edge technology will encourage my students to take their understanding to another level from their ideas to the production. We just returned from Winter Break but are anxious to begin our first project in our Science Lab with this new technology. Thank you for making this possible for our students.”

  • Creative Animal Structures

    Funded Sep 13, 2018

Our students have had a fantastic time investigating animals through various lenses. We have investigated animal's physiological structures, natural behaviors, habitats, and needs. We have used our technology to research photos, facts, and even video clips to get authentic views of various animals. Furthermore, we have discussed the importance of respecting animals and their habitats in our world. We used our Crayola Model Magic Clay and sculpting tools to create our own animals with detailed structures to show how they survive in the wild. We have innovated our animal bodies as we focused on the details that the animals have. The students have really enjoyed the opportunities to look closely at the details that support animals as they survive and thrive in our world. Thank you for helping us to make this important learning happen. Students have more information and more respect for animals because of this project. The creativity and fun made it all the more worthy to each student.”

    Funded May 8, 2018

My students have been thrilled to use our new financial literacy resources! We are exploring concepts in financial responsibilities in fun and engaging ways that will help my It is students begin to understand the value of money. It is a big hit for students to role play earning, spending, and saving money. The play money in many of the resources is especially appealing. It is interesting to watch and listen to students use their math academic vocabulary as they count, separate, compare, add, subtract, multiply, and divide their money in various situations. The multiplication practice will also support their facility with manipulating amounts fluently and accurately. Thank you so much for contributing to making this project a reality. It will support my current students as well as many groups of students in the years to come.”

  • Coding Mentors

    Funded Apr 19, 2018

My students were thrilled to receive three Botley Coding Robots and accessories! My students were engaged with the ideas behind coding having had a brief introduction to coding on the computer, ...but having Botley's hands-on opportunities to explore coding concepts with remote-controlled robots brought on a whole new level of enthusiasm. Students explored how to move from command cards to programming sequences. They progressed to programming challenges with the accessories. These resources encouraged and supported critical thinking, teamwork, and, and problem solving challenges. Thank you for providing these opportunities to our great learners. They are gearing up to teach the new generation of students next year as coding mentors.”

  • Print It Up!

    Funded Apr 2, 2018

Something special happens when color is present: Information is processed more completely, details are noticed more specifically, and a strong energy flows through the visual information. My students are thrilled to have a color printer in our classroom. They feel that their printed work is more valuable because it is in color. Their products look more interesting. Their creations take a more professional turn. My students are fortunate to have ipads as part of their school resources. We use them in every curricular area. Being able to print their photographs, projects, artistic renderings, and publish their stories and reports in color has made their products look and feel more polished. There is a different level of confidence and satisfaction. My students are curating their photo library in order to select significant science experiments, literary projects, math concepts, and social studies reports. They are recognizing the fantastic experiences they have had this year and are noting the growth in their work. Thank you for bringing color to the lives of my students. We will continue to work in awe of the beauty that is correlated with their learning.”

  • Scientists and Engineers Build

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

When our materials arrived, we immediately put them to use. Our student scientist used the engineering and design process to collaboratively plan and build structures that could sustain themselves. Students immediately selected their teams and began to work. It was fascinating to watch the incredible level of communication used by students to work together. The straws and connectors kits were easy for students to manipulate and use. The pride and confidence that students had in their structures was wonderful. These opportunities will build a strong foundation for collaboration, communication, creativity, and critical thinking.

The other student groups attempted to use the challenge structures to build the small models by following stock illustrations. Students selected the various models and were able to create various miniatures with the connecting tools. Engineers need opportunities like these to be able to use creativity as well as math and science skills to build prototypes and models. These materials will be able to be used again and again as we set new creative engineering challenges for our scientists in training. Thank you for contributing so many opportunities to our students.”

  • Digital Storytelling as Innovative Thought

    Funded Mar 3, 2018

Our reading of literary text and emulating strong writer's has evolved into developing our own short featured films for our peers. We are using the literary novels we have read as mentor text to help us develop and produce our own digital storytelling in a creative way. Our storytelling is definitely strengthening our imaginations. This project has allowed students to create multimedia movies with photographs, short video, text, sound, music, and narration. The "stories" are a fantastic expressive medium. Our new lapel microphones plug into our ipads allowing us to narrate our digital stories with ease. The fantastic speaker system allow students to listen to the narrations and music addition clearly as if we were in a movie theater. Many of my students have taken on the responsibility to support their peers in setting up and recording with our new microphones. My sincere gratitude to you for supporting the learners in my classroom who come to school every day to take risks as they encounter new opportunities and new challenges. These resources allow creativity and innovation while developing communicative and literary thinking skills.”

  • Mathematicians Need More Math Games

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

Our mathematicians are ecstatic to have new math games! They realize the importance of review and practice in the area of math, but they didn't realize how much fun and engaging it could be. We have a new Math Lab in our building that we are using. We started off with a couple of math games and realized the impact they have had on student math success. These new math games that you have now made available have created a great frenzy and desire to practice important math skills. It is fantastic in that students now have more choices to choose from which means they can now practice and review more math concepts. They love the fact that they are doing this with friends in both friendly competition and collaborative games. We have increased our math lab time so that students are reviewing more of the material since it is nearing the end of the year. Thank you for providing our students with a fun way to reinforce their mathematics learning.”
