Peer Collaboration
Funded Nov 6, 2019My students have continued to thrive on working collaboratively. Providing flexible spaces to do this has been very important. My students enjoy spaces where they can take on collaborative conversations, peer support, and contributions to each-other's thinking. The two benches received convert from a bench seat to a table. This flexible space has allowed for students to work with various materials in different ways.
This space further promotes teamwork, peer support, and extended areas for critical thinking.
Student have been able to host their writing conferences, prepare for math summits, extend their science lab sheets, and engage in literature readings and discussions while enjoying the flexibility the benches offer.
Thank you for impacting our classroom in such a positive way!”

Funded Nov 22, 2019When they first saw the soccer goals being set up, they immediately wanted to be the ones to score. The size of the goals are perfect for them as they have to develop more technical control of their attempts at the goal.
Our teams are already having a great time using the PUGG goals for our practices and small sided games! There is a huge excitement in scoring goals in a net rather than between two cones. It has made the feeling of accomplishment greater.
We plan to use these resources to continue to refine passing, shooting, and working together.”

Funded Nov 7, 2019These classic games are a huge hit in our classroom! Students are learning how to use thinking, strategy, and math as they explore these classic board games together. After learning how to play each of the games in class, students are beginning to take these board games home to play with their families as an extension to practicing their cognitive skills. I am so grateful to give students these valuable opportunities as they learn valuable skills and extend them home with their families. What a fun way to help students engage in traditional family time. Thank you!”

Funded Oct 31, 2019Thank you so much for donating to our project. Our students are eager to explore coding in new ways with these new tools. The Bit Coding Robots are not only engaging, but have been providing hands-on collaborative opportunities while promoting language, creativity, and risk taking. Students are learning how to maneuver settings, obstacle courses, and challenges. Students are also being provided with opportunities to ask questions such as "what if?" as they develop their creativity in how to use the bit. Coding is taking on a new look while students are having fun. Thank you!”

Funded Sep 23, 2019Our collaborative classroom has new resources to inspire our students in developing the 21st century skills of creating, communicating, and critical thinking. The new computer task chairs acquired through this grant are popular additions to our work spaces. They support students in working together. This flexible seating for my students allow them to take charge of their learning.
The colorful, fun task chairs provide alternative workspaces allowing students the chance to keep their focus on their rigorous work. Students enjoy sitting in nonconventional seats and enjoy choices in choosing their own meeting spaces. Students meet with each others to collaborate on assignments including math problem solving, technology app presentations, and writing conferences. These rolling chairs are making a huge difference. Thank you for your donation.”

Funded Aug 14, 2019Students were extremely excited to unveil the new seating and carpet area for our classroom. We have been using the new carpet area to have whole group and small group collaborative conversations about topics in reading, writing, and social studies. Students also use this space for supporting each other during pair or small group assignments.
The seating bench has been a major hit and is currently the most popular place to work. Students read novels together, hold peer writing conferences, and support each other with technology tasks.
Helping students establish these positive collaborative habits early in their lives will be critical in their educational journey and beyond.
These resources have given them the confidence and desire to engage in reading, thinking, and interacting with others. Students are more engaged with lounging with a good book while they are establishing strong habits. Thank you for making a great difference for these deserving students.”

Funded Aug 7, 2019Our flexible, magnetic whiteboard easel has facilitated our direct instruction a in both whole group and small group instruction. It has allowed us to model and articulate various approaches to reading, writing, and working through mathematics. The portable easel has been used by both teacher and students to demonstrate, explain, and articulate thinking processes as students learn and apply new concepts, practice skills, and teach each other through their growing knowledge and critical thinking skills.
The whiteboard clipboards have been used throughout the curriculum to practice language arts, mathematics, and science skills while supporting our organizational development and sustainability efforts in reduction of waste.
Thank you for your kind donation.”

Funded Aug 2, 2019The sports equipment provided through your generous donation has been fantastic for our students. They have already learned and will continue to practice the importance of dynamic warm ups to get their body ready for skill development and game time. The students are using the agility ladder to explore new physical movement while challenging themselves and each other. The batting T and bat have made it possible for students to find instant success at playing the sport of baseball. Every team member has been able to successfully swing and hit the ball to get them running bases. This confidence builder helps them feel like they are contributing to their team and establishing sportsmanship. The training softballs have allowed students to play without the fear of being hurt by a ball. We are finding great success in learning and developing baseball skills teamwork, dedication, responsibility, communication, and respect. Thank you so much!”

Funded Mar 18, 2019Learning to play a team sport it so important for our youth. Our students are so excited to learn the basic skills of throwing and catching, as they learn to play with this new equipment. The gloves are appropriately sized and the balls provide opportunities for many students to practice at once. Learning to work together while establishing some competition will serve these students well. In addition, these students will learn the strong habits of being active and will also learn the importance of practicing to increase skill level.

Funded Dec 23, 2018Thank you for helping us use creative, efficient, and cost-effective ways to deliver a strong, rigorous, and appropriate academic program to our students. The paper and pens are allowing us to provide our students with an appropriate and engaging curriculum.
We are using the paper throughout the curriculum to provide anchors, student practice opportunities, and academic rubrics for student work. The black pens are being used throughout the reading and writing curriculum to provide the medium necessary for planning, drafting, conferencing, revising, and editing. The colored pens are allowing students to have fun while they annotate text and think critically about what they read. Having these basic supplies for each student provides multitudes of opportunity to think critically, read closely, and write extensively. Thank you for helping to make this happen!”
