  • Programming Tools for Every Student

    Funded Feb 12, 2025

My students got to use our new version Micro:bits for the first time today. They were so excited when they realized that the new versions include a speaker, microphone, and touch input. They had a great time programming the Micro:bits to make different sounds. When combined with our JacDac kits, they were able to write codes that changed the frequency of sound with a magnetic sensor. Your generosity is providing such amazing opportunities and experiences for my students. Thank you for you continued support of our classroom”

  • Transformative Tech Tools for Coding & 3D Printing

    Funded Dec 22, 2024

Wow! My students have been absolutely amazed by what they are able to do with the JacDac sensors that you donated to our classroom. With these new tools, they have been able to see first hand the results of the code that they write. These kits have provided them with programmable buttons, lights, magnet sensors, light sensors, and so much more. Being able to program actual devices rather than just simulators on a screen has made these lessons so much more engaging for my students. They have loved every challenge they have been given and are begging for more. Thank you so much for your generosity and support of our classroom!”

  • Exploring Our Creative Sides with Art

    Funded Nov 26, 2024

My students have absolutely LOVED the art supplies that you provided our classroom! We have already begun using them. Having these materials has really inspired my kids to explore their creative sides. Last week my 5th graders made collages of garbage trucks as they learned about responsible consumption, one of the the global goals for sustainable development. My 4th graders made prints of bee hive and models of honey bees with the paint and air dry clay that you provided us. Your donations have helped my students to have hands-on, creative experiences in our classroom. Thank you!”

  • Stop Motion Tools

    Funded Nov 8, 2023

Before the Christmas break, I setup two different breakout sessions for my students. They had to use deductive logic and clues to solve riddles in order to discover the combinations for 5 different locks. They were so excited and proud of themselves as they solved the final clues and broke open the last lock. One of the main tools they had to use to solve the riddles was a gift from you - the UV flashlights that we received from your donations to our classroom. I cannot tell you how much we appreciate your support through Donors Choose. The support that you provide makes such a difference! Thank you!”

  • Creativity with Digital Design

    Funded Apr 14, 2023

My students put the iPad pencils to use as soon as they arrived in our classroom! Over the last two weeks they have been exploring their creative sides through digital design thanks to your generosity. The pencils have been such a helpful tool as they have navigated learning to use Pro Create and draw on our classroom iPads. They have already completed two design lessons and are so excited to see what we have in store for next week with the app. Thank you so much for your continued support of our classroom and school!”

  • Electrify Our Classroom

    Funded Aug 5, 2022

I cannot wait to begin our electric circuits unit with my third grader students in January. Because of YOU, my students are going to use dough, LED lights, buzzers, motors, wires, and so much more to actually build circuits. They will be able to use the dough to sculpt their own ideas and then use the circuity tools to bring them to life with movement, noise, and light. I cannot wait to hear their enthusiasm and watch their engagement as they learn, experiment, and explore with the tools that you have provided to our classroom. Thank you for being so generous and supporting our school and community!”

  • Virtual Reality Experiences Leading to Community Service Impact

    Funded Sep 28, 2022

Guess where my class traveled last week? Thanks to YOU, my fourth graders went all the way to Mexico to watch and stand among the monarch butterflies that migrate there every winter! I cannot tell you how much we appreciate your donation that allowed us to subscribe to virtual reality experiences with our VR headsets. These experiences are going to allow my students to travel all over the world, experiencing so many different cultures and adventures. These experiences will help my students develop empathy toward others that will in turn allow them to create community service outreach projects. Thank you so much for your kindness!”

  • Sometimes It's the Basics

    Funded Sep 10, 2022

Wow! What a difference a clean, new whiteboard makes in a classroom! Our board was installed a little over a week ago, and the kids cannot stop talking about it. Not only has it created a clean, easy surface for my students to work on; but, it has also given me a clean, fresh platform to share information and instructions with my classes. It makes writing and erasing information so easy! Thank you for continuing to support our classroom. Your generosity is making such a difference in our school and community.”

  • Holding the Ideas We Imagine

    Funded Jan 10, 2022

My students were so excited when our new 3D printer and thermal tent arrived. They could not wait for the printer to be constructed and ready for use. I cannot tell you how thrilled they were to touch and hold the first object that they printed with it. They love being able to make reliable prints with break away supports. It has opened up so many new options for what they can print and create with the 3D printer. Thank you for continuing to support our classroom and provide STEM and real world opportunities for my kids!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Woodard

My students are incredibly creative and intuitive. For most of them, their favorite time of the day is science because they thrive in the hands-on exploration that the subject permits. Recently, we have been exploring electricity by building series and parallel circuits, discovering objects that are conductors and insulators through testing them, and investigating the innards of a light bulb. Through these experiments, I have been able to see how incredibly intuitive and inquisitive many of my students are.
