I have developed multiple systems to keep my class in order and my resources organized. This helps make for smooth classroom management and effective use of classroom time toward learning. My 8th grade English Language Arts (ELA) class is rigorous. In my ELA class, I use thought provoking contemporary and social justice issues to help my students to read, write, and express their ideas and opinions verbally. I am constantly searching for articles, videos, and visuals that get my student's brain cells in a frenzy. Once I have them hooked on a topic (and I always get them hooked!) they want to do the work because they are excited about expressing their ideas and hearing the ideas of their peers. I help my students develop an impressive classroom binder of resources on writing, reading, and oral communication materials that they can keep at the end of the year and take with them to high school as a resource.
