Help Develop Rocking Readers!

Funded Sep 26, 2018

I am thankful that my very first project has been fully funded and all within a week of me creating the project. We now have little readers that range from levels A - F which I use in my guided reading groups. The students are excited to come read with me especially because the books are on their level. The students are really making progress with their reading and decoding skills. The student have said "I love reading these books", "These books are tiny but cute" and "I love reading these little books". The rolling cart I use to store the guided reading books which keeps me organized. The students have guided reading every day which is building the blocks of literacy. I have used the texts to teach the skills of "asking and answering text based questions", "Sequence of events" and "summarizing" thus far.

The multi-color organizer cart I use to give my lowest scholars their own individual draws in which they get differentiated work. They store their own flashcards, worksheets and workbooks in there. The students are excited to work on tasks that are especially made for them. All I have to say is "go work on your skills" and they go off to work on their tasks independently. The dry erase pockets are used in centers for word works and station activities. The 6-Tier Letter organizer is utilized to store graphic organizers and book reports that the students can use during station time.

All of the items have their own role within the classroom and has given my students a little more support to help them learn, grow and be more successful. We use a program called Renaissance which tracks the students progress throughout the year and I am excited to report that ALL students have shown growth in ELA because they have the extra support that they need. Literacy is the foundation that all students need in order to be successful throughout their school and college career and it needs to be nourished in elementary school.”

With gratitude,

Mrs. Ortiz
