Because my students attend a STEM magnet school, it's important for them to be able to design and build using a variety of tools including Legos and gears. In my kindergarten classroom, the students visit learning centers daily. I want to ensure that they get to explore many types of building tools as we explore structure and function. My students have never used coding blocks before, so they would be amazed at being able to use Cubelets to create an actual moving robot. I am teaching the adults of tomorrow, which is sure to be increasingly technology-rich. My young children need a strong foundation in design, building, and robotics to be able to compete in a work force that thrives on critical thinking.
