Dual Language Kindergartners Love Scholastic Magazines
Funded Aug 16, 2014I am filled with gratitude! Thank you so much for your generosity. This project has allotted me desperately needed age appropriate materials so that my students can meet their rigorous kindergarten standards.
These Scholastic Magazines are providing access to interesting and engaging nonfiction articles for my kindergartners. These magazines are developmentally appropriate and give my students practice with simple, predictable informational texts that support concepts of print, sight words, phonics, and vocabulary. My students get so excited when I tell them we get to read a Scholastic Magazine. They look forward to these lessons and are very eager to share their newly acquired information with their families. The Science Spin has also allowed me to make STEM connections, promoting learning and possibly careers in the areas of science, technology, engineering, and math.
I am so thrilled that I get to go teach amazing minds everyday. These generously donated materials get my kindergartners excited about learning! I look forward to all the wonderful learning that will occur this school year as a result of your support. Thank you!”

Kindergarteners Learning With Technology
Funded Aug 23, 2014Words cannot express the excitement our class felt as we received our Apple TV and Bluetooth speaker. I am full of gratitude for the generous donations that were made to our class. These resources are having a wonderful impact on our class. Students are fully engaged in the lessons, they get to actively participate in the lessons, and I am able to provide my students with immediate feedback.
By using the Apple TV, I am able to project and interactively use the iPad with my students. In a class of 23 energetic kindergartners, keeping them engaged and providing them with concrete examples are always a priority. I am able to use the curriculum in exciting and innovative ways. Students are able to share and present their work to the class. What I am so excited about is the way students can share their thinking via the iPad and project it for all the class to see. This has boosted my student's excitement and willingness to participate. They can present from anywhere in the class. This is especially helpful for my shy students or my students who are acquiring a new language. They feel safe sharing from their seat. This facilitates great discussions in our class as my students work on their listening and speaking common core standards. I am also able to move around the class and provide immediate feedback to my students.
In kindergarten, we sing and move as the students learn all day long. The Bluetooth speaker enables me to access my music through the iPad and play from where ever we are in the classroom. I no longer am fumbling with Cd's (or even cassettes!) trying to find the right song on an out dated boombox. We sing seamlessly throughout the day! Learning has never been so fun!
Thank you donors for your generosity, your impact is far reaching. My students are engaged and excited about learning as are their parents. I feel incredibly supported in my charge of teaching amazing little minds. I feel so lucky to have the best job in the world! Thank you for your support.”
With gratitude,
