Student Mailboxes
Funded Dec 20, 2023Thank you so much for helping change our classroom community with your donations!
Our classroom is a family. We rely on each other to work together, share ideas, and share notes. Mailboxes are essential for sending home notes, homework, and important notices. But our mailboxes are also like our personal cubbies! Students love leaving each other notes, saving projects to work on them later, and bringing home special treats.
Our old mailboxes were literally crumbling beneath our fingertips, making it even put our folders in neatly. Now that we have new mailboxes, it is a BREEZE. Our classroom has never bene more functional.
Thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts!”

First Graders Connecting to the World
Funded Oct 2, 2022Our students loved reading these Scholastic News magazines throughout the year. They were engaged, curious, and excited each month when we got a new batch of issues.
Within the classroom, all the teachers used them when learning about Social Studies and current events. We also all used them for small group instruction during reading time and writing and I am sure it made an impact on their learning. In addition, it helped them with their independent reading because it gave them something interesting and new to read.
More importantly, though, the students were deeply engaged in what they were reading. They loved it, and looked forward to it each month. That's the best part!
Without donors like you, they wouldn't have had the opportunity to read these magazines. Thank you so much for all you do for our students!”

Helping Connect Third Graders to the Digital World
Funded Oct 23, 2020Thank you so much for helping the third graders this year. Our students were able to connect to current events in both remote and in person classrooms. Through the use of Scholastic News, our students were able to always learn about current events, important people, and moments in history. They also used Scholastic News to research projects.
Our students loved the digital Scholastic News offerings. They watched videos and were able to feel like researchers when learning about events. They also used the articles for Social Emotional Learning projects and were able to pick passion projects that were important to them.
The students who were in person were able to read and discuss physical magazines while the remote students were able to access everything digitally. It was an amazing chance to have students on the same page in a difficult year. Thank you for your support!”

Funded Jan 3, 2019Thank you so much for your amazing donations. Thanks to you, our students have been able to practice writing, reading, math skills, and even social studies skills throughout the day in an extra way. Students who struggle to read are able to read hundreds of books at their level, have the book read to them, and answer comprehension questions on raz-kids. Students are able to apply the math and social studies skills we've gone over in class through games and videos on abcmouse. And they're able to have fun and play in a way that is exciting and new.
Our class LOVES reading books on RAZ-Kids. During a Guided Reading session, students are able to sit and read for fun, and the program will push them forward when they pass a reading level. And don't get me started on how much they love typing and practicing their computer skills. We even have some tech support friends who help each other log on and get back to their screens.
You have truly made a difference in our class. We are so happy and grateful for you all.”

Funded Nov 26, 2017First grade has had the most incredible time making our how-to books. The excitement that they showed when I explained that we had a book-binding machine was astounding and inspiring. Because they were so motivated by the machine, these were the best writing they have ever produced. Students made sure their work was detailed, creative, neat, and interesting.
Students also loved sharing their writing in their publishing party. They got to see their books being created and treated the books like they were bought from a store!
Moving forward, students are already excited about the next books they get to make. They can't wait to continue publishing their writing. Writing workshop, which at times could seem tedious for students, has become something that they eagerly await.
Thank you so much for your contribution to our classroom!”

All Ears for Reading!
Funded Aug 29, 2017Thank you SO much for contributing to our amazing classroom. Since having our listening center, students are engaged in reading and able to practice the important skill of "buddy reading," something that we continue to work on! We have started doing guided reading in mixed-level groups, and it's an amazing center activity for students that makes reading new, different, and exciting. The students love that familiar books that are used as read-alouds are books that they can read and listen to on their own. I've also found that our lower readers are more enthusiastic about reading!
Your contribution has made such an impact. We're so, so thankful!”
