In a "traditional" math class you would see students taking notes and then moving on to practice on a worksheet. I try and switch that up in my classroom! In my mathematics classroom, I have students working in groups on a variety of problem-solving tasks. The whiteboards will provide another tool for students to use to map out their ideas and thinking. I also believe that movement helps in the learning process, so I requested a classroom set of clipboards to allow students to participate in gallery walks and other activities that allow them to get up and move out of their seats.
These materials will allow me to establish activities that enhance student engagement in mathematics. Other materials I have requested provide, not only the students but also myself, organization. I have some bins and I am requesting hanging file folders for students to keep their work in so they don't lose it in their locker or at home.
By donating to this project you will be providing resources that support the learning and organization of 150+ students per year.
