I moved to New Orleans in the summer of 2007, as many schools were finally re-opening post-Katrina. Now in my eighth year of teaching (2014-2015) at the same school where I began, I'm so excited to be embarking on a new journey as I transition from classroom teacher to P.E. Coach! I teach physical fitness & activity, health, wellness, nutrition, and the life sciences to approx. 170 students each day in the Greater New Orleans region of Louisiana. My students come from very low-income, high-need households; our annual free- and reduced-price lunch rates (determined by federal poverty line status) hover between 90%-100%. My diverse classes include English language learners as well as gifted/talented, and special education students. Despite a high level of need (academically and beyond), my kids are incredibly motivated, persistent, intelligent, and inherently kindhearted. Thanks so much for checking out our page!
