  • Learning Financial Literacy Through Classroom Currency

    Funded Aug 10, 2023

Thank you so much for your generous donations to our project. It has been so neat to see this gift come to life.

The students have loved being able to earn points for positive behavior and spend those points on classroom rewards. Students have purchased items from our classroom store such as pajama day, "stinky feet" (no shoes day), a lunch from Sonic, and ipad recess with friends among many others.

They are learning about finances as they make decisions to spend, save, and budget for what they want. Our school has gotten involved by offering larger events that students can purchase as well.

We really appreciate you and love these resources.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Rankin

  • A Variety of Helpful Tools!

    Funded Aug 21, 2023

Thank you so much for donating to this project. It was different from most of the projects I've done in the past because there wasn't one focus--your help allowed me to purchase a wide range of items that we use in our classroom daily.

The games, of course, are the biggest hit. My students love practicing their learning through games and ask nearly every day in their small groups if they can play the "popcorn game" or the "fly swatter game".

We used the string lights to bring coziness to our classroom. The magnetic curtain rod holds our month, day, year, and day of the week. The magnetic math symbols have been so helpful while reviewing +, -, =, in whole group math. The laminating pouches have been used to laminate math and literacy games, student login badges, student nameplates for desks, our ABC chart and numbers charts on the wall, and many other things that we use on a daily basis. The erasable number lines went straight into our table bins with the other manipulatives that we use to solve math problems.

As you can see, this wide variety of helpful tools has helped us in many ways!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Rankin

  • Osmo Interactive Learning for Fabulous Firsties!

    Funded Aug 2, 2023

Thank you so much for your generous donations to our classroom project. We were able to get several Osmo games to use during literacy and math stations. The students are absolutely in love with them!

The technology has helped our students learn because it gives them immediate feedback on whether they are right or wrong. This is so helpful because it makes their practice purposeful and they are able to correct their mistakes on the spot rather than making them over and over without any feedback.

They have learned financial literacy through the games as well. It is so neat being able to see connections to our math and literacy learning while students are having a blast.”

  • An ABC Rug for an Absolutely Amazing Class

    Funded May 5, 2021

Thank you so very much for your donation for a new classroom rug! It arrived mid-May, and I unrolled it as I set up my classroom in August. It is so nice! It's thin, yet cushy, has gorgeous colors and fun pictures, and it matches my classroom perfectly! The best part of the rug is that includes the ABC's, so each student has a letter to sit on. With Covid restrictions and guidelines, we have to have a seating chart for our rug in order to contact trace should a student become exposed. Having a designated spot for each child to sit has been so helpful. It is super easy for students to remember their letter to go to. I am so thankful for you and your generosity!”

  • Station Supplies for Super Girls and Guys

    Funded Dec 3, 2019

Thank you so much for your help in getting awesome station supplies for my students. Because of your generosity, my students are having so much fun practicing addition, subtraction, CVC words, sight words, two syllable words, and vowels without even knowing that they are working. They are learning how to play cooperatively with others, and I am able to meet with small groups because they are engaged in learning activities. We appreciate you so much and know that these supplies will make an impact for years to come.”

  • Mrs. Rankin's Fabulous Firsties Love to Learn About Financial Literacy

    Funded Oct 16, 2019

Thank you so much for your generosity in giving to this project! The students have learned so much about Financial Literacy already! One of the ways students have used the new iPad to study financial literacy is through a reading app called Epic! Students have studied money, wants vs. needs, how people need goods and services, and have taken quizzes to test their comprehension on these topics. They have also played games in which they have to make change and count coins. They are loving their new technology, and we are so happy to have these tools.”

  • Mrs. Rankin's Fabulous Firsties Need to Learn about Financial Literacy

    Funded Oct 3, 2019

Thank you so much for supplying our class with a new iPad. We have learned so much about financial literacy already! One of the main games that we use is called Osmo Pizza Company. While this does not seem like an educational game from the title, it is so helpful in allowing students to practice addition and subtraction, fractions, and money. Students create pizzas based on customers' orders and then give the customers correct change for the pizzas that they buy. The game is hands-on, engaging, and so fun for the students. We so appreciate your generosity.”

  • Book Bags for Abundant at-Home Reading

    Funded Nov 19, 2019

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing generosity in helping us to get our book bags! We are seeing such a difference already, and we have only had our materials for a short time! Students were so excited when I showed them the bags and told them that they would each receive one to store their nightly reading in! You would have loved hearing their squeals of delight! They have been much more diligent about bringing their books home and back to school each day, and I have been thrilled to see their books coming back to school in good condition. Thank you so much!”

  • Magical Learning With Magic Boards

    Funded Oct 16, 2019

Thank you so much for your donations to help fund our Magic Boards project. You really did help us to create magical learning.

We use our Magic Boards daily during math time to practice quick addition and subtraction drills. We use them during intervention to practice writing words within the phonics patterns that we are studying. We use them during phonics whole-group instruction to sound out words that we hear and write words within our phonics pattern. They are easy to use, require no additional materials, and are engaging because they are a novelty for students--they are unlike traditional supplies they would normally get to use at school. We so appreciate these materials!”

    Mrs. Rankin

  • Basic iPad Supplies for My Little Girls and Guys

    Funded Jan 7, 2019

Thank you so much for helping us to fund this project! I cannot tell you how much it has improved our technology usage in our classroom! It used to be very difficult to charge the iPads that students use daily in their math and literacy stations. There weren't enough outlets for the chargers and cords necessary to keep our technology running. Now we have a designated spot with one outlet for our charging station, which holds all of our chargers and cords. Students can easily plug and unplug iPads themselves, saving me a great deal of time. The tough iPad cases keep our technology safe in first grade hands!

Thanks to your generosity, we have the basics needed for things to run smoothly. We appreciate you so much!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Rankin

My twenty-five first grade students are sweet, funny children who love hands-on learning, technology, songs, and games. They take pride in "filling each others' buckets" by giving each other compliments, helping each other, and setting a good example. Our school is a pre-K through 5th grade elementary school with many English language learners and at least 80% poverty in our school population. I don't have children of my own at home, and my school kids mean the world to me. I would do anything to provide more opportunities for them to learn and succeed. I would so appreciate your help in making that happen!
