Teaching my scholars how to conduct their own research is an integral part of the 5th grade curriculum. They need to be able to navigate through websites, online journals, newspaper, and magazines in order to find credible sources on units of study like human rights, biodiversity in the rainforest, sports in American culture, and how natural disasters affect communities. These five Asus Chromebooks will give my scholars the ability to form opinions based on the research that they did independently. Technology is woven throughout today's educational curriculum and without appropriate access my scholars,who are already at a socioeconomic disadvantage and struggling with family issues, poverty, homelessness, hunger, etc., will continue to be held back.
