By having the books my students requested to have added to our classroom library, my students will be exposed to books that they might not have access to otherwise. Our school library only allows students to checkout one book at a time, every other week. My students like to have a book here at school to read as well as to have one at home to read. Many families are not in a position to be able to checkout books from the public library. Now, students will be able to have a book here at school as well as one at home. Not only will my students have access to more books, they will have access to books that they are interested in. Our main goal of having books they want in our classroom is to help our struggling readers find books that they are interested in. As a child I despised reading until I found a book series that I enjoyed. Ever since then, I have been an avid reader. Our hope is that we can encourage all of our students to be avid readers. Reading books they enjoy will encourage them to read more. The more they read, the easier it is for them to be able to read. The easier it is for them to read, the more they comprehend what they read. The more they comprehend what they read, the more they learn. The more they learn, the more successful they are. The learning possibilities are endless!
